The Altai mountains, Lake Baikal and Siberia are the birthplace of the Turkic people, Mongolians, Koreans and probably Japanese people too. Maybe they are not all the same now but with thousands of years of living together they have some similarities between cultures and languages. We are all distant cousins basically.

Also it is interesting that native Americans who until being wiped out by the European settlers also used to have very similar beliefs to Tengrism and religions of Siberia- shamanism, totemism, animism and a huge respect towards the souls of their ancestors. They also were very respectful towards nature. Also it is scientifically proven that they settled in North America from Siberia.

@@lokumftw2621: I rather believe in nature then religions who ALL people submit. The obstacle that we have to take is working together with each own believe or non-believe. For me Tengrism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Shinto or the ones who I rather support. Then again i have Muslim and Jew friends and we can get along and I don't believe in a God. So make something of your own life and reach out your hand if somebody needs help, without opposing your own believe. That's the way how we humans should live together.

I don't understand, everyone is trying to appropriate Yoga from us Hindus like Christians for instance, who used to be flat-earthers some 200 years ago. This shares some similarities with some Hindu rituals, but since we are the oldest faith on earth and rest others are just Greco-Roman or Arab extensions, we can safely assume that this religion has had Hindu influence. We Hindus are older than Jews, Muslims, Christians combined( more than 6500 years), so it makes sense. Nowadays, these flat-earther tribal pagans are coming from Europe to India and worshipping our age old gods, because their own culture is dead. They want to appropriate our culture, literature and religion despite nil similarities. We Hindu women dont cover our head, women without cover are naked for Europeans and middle-eastern.

Yes, in a way all people during soviet union practiced tengriism, because there was a ban on religion and tengriism somehow wasn't prosecuted, maybe was considered like some shamanic rituals by soviets, so it was well developed, then after collapse of soviet union since 1991 there was a lot of investment from Arab world and Turkey to help to fill this spiritual and religious vacuum in post soviet countries, especially Turkey wanted to revive its Turkish roots, develop a turkish alliance. Nowadays in Central Asia there lots of movements who disguise even sometimes under Islam but try to develop tengriism. Since many people oppose tengriism as Islam is relatively "new" to us in a way, people are now getting used to feeling Muslim and don't want any other force like tengriism change that. There is a man called Arstan Alai (well known Tengriist) he is been persecuted by authorities right now for saying that he is God Tengri, im afraid if he is found guilty he will be imprisoned for 7,5 years

Time doesn't tick backwards. Should I just become a buddhist or a tengriist just because that was what my ancestors used to believe in? Also turks before islam were very unorganised after their empires fell. After islam they became powerful once again and they were the part of the great golden age (atleast till that dog Hulagu destroyed everything). Turks didnt unify under Islam, they just became a part of a wider religious movement that swept across the world. Turkey became powerful because they became the Caliphate, or the leader of the muslim world. Being buddhist or tengrist is your choice, and no one forces you if you dont choose to follow it.

Not exactly, Tengrism followers not very organised however main principles usually understood by most followers. Certain Tenrist gestures have traveled into certain islamic groups via Sufism and Alevism. Sufism and Alevism established based on Tengrism to diffuse islamic oppression as Tengrism considered heresy by many islamic communities. Even crescent and star is originally Tengrist symbols which also being considered haram symbols by islamic hardliners. After Ottoman empire it somehow being accepted and even know falsely considered as islamic

It is never a stagnant set of beliefs; it evolves together with the people who practice it. Alevism, from what I have managed to gather, is a system that syncretizes old Turkic cosmology and rituals, brought by the nomadic migrations into Anatolia, with Indo-Iranic and Semitic (Abrahamic) cosmologies that were already well-established in the region. Hence Alevism, besides looking at it in the theological light, canbe seen as a direct reflection of the Turkish journey into the Middle East, woven into a magnificent pattern of multiculturalistic national expression and rich heritage. Same goes for Kyrgyz Tengerists making duah. Originally Tengerist, their culture went through the stages of Islamisation and Soviet Atheism. These elements are the part of ever-evolving cultural heritage of the people in Kyrgyztan. This is Tengerism still, an evolving one, yet Tengerism.

I'm Wiccan/pagan and American and their rituals look a lot like those of other pagan traditons. I have been to mosques and those rituals look absolutely nothing like mosque prayers. I have never seen an imam sage a room or cleanse ritual items with water.
