Kyoshi rocking up like that gives me goosebumps every time. When she goes into the Avatar state and moves a whole peninsula, the power of that woman is just incredible. A true force of nature.
Fun fact: Kyoshi had an actual valid reason she used those fans. She was so powerful that she actually found it difficult to avoid destroying shit. The fans helped her focus her power.
Fun Fact: The village leader was voiced by the same person who did the voice of the sniveling scribe in Disney's Mulan; and he did a couple of other Avatar characters as well.
In the two novels about Kyoshi, you learn that for a long time she was really insecure about her avatarhood, but that she was always great at bending huge masses of rock... and ironically had trouble bending a small pebble.
i love this episode man. Kyoshi just shows up like "yeah, i killed that mf" after everything the gaang went through just cracks me up
"Yeah she did it, but he kinda fell" Personally, I don't really see the diffference.
I read somewhere that Avatar Kyoshi was 7 feet tall and died at 230 years old.

7 ft is unconfirmed, but she was definitely tall enough to turn heads with her height alone. 230 is accurate, though we should note this is the exception and not the rule for Avatars. Highly recommend the Kyoshi novels or audiobooks, they’re excellent 👍👍

Okay so. Yes she was canonically 230 years old. But I'm pretty sure it's because they made a continuity error when they said in episode 4 of season 1 that Kyoshi was born 400 years ago. Roku lived till 70, Aang was in the iceberg for 100 years so that leaves 230 years of Kyoshi's life. I guess for some reason they hadn't realused she would be the Avatar before Roku, so they had to come up with a reason why she was born so long ago.
This episode is so funny i love the prison guys 😂

Yea they where a whole vibe 😂
I don't know but I think this episode is a great lesson. Kyoshi really did cause the death of the conqueror but even though everything happened, Aang still restored the honour of the avatars. I see it in a way that even though you cannot change the past, there is still a lot in the future to do.
Yeah, when the time comes you definitely should read the Kyoshi novels. She deserves to get it animated someday..
Kyoshi has 2 canon novels about the crazy circumstances surrounding how she discovered she was the Avatar and the fallout that ensues. I hold them just as high as I hold ATLA and Korra, it’s like having another season of the show. Any Avatar fan should definitely read them if they get the chance, especially if they love lore & worldbuilding
Actually this trial is a parody to the real inquisitional system of procedure which existed in different periods for different countries (XVI century in Germany). The judge was also a prosecutor and an advocate. It was before our cool adversarial process was invented 😂 but in defence of inquisitional process I would say it was much better than the previous one (even with all these tortures). The previous one was like "let's burn your hands with molten metal. The one who is cured faster is the winner" Sorry it's just I wrote the coursework about it 😂 all these years I was looking for opportunity to show off

Hey, you shouldn't be sorry, that's a cool piece of knowledge, AND it's being relevant.
btw kyoshi was the avatar before Roku ---- even aangs high age of 112 and the high age of roku (ca 60) ---- this shit was 370 years ago and she was born over 400 years ago --- means she was over 200 years old when she died (i think it was later confirmed 230)
If Kyoshi was the one mentoring Aang, the series would only take 12 episodes and with R rating fr fr.

I have to admit, Kyoshi is so OP that she present herself, not Aang summoned her
