The best thing about the show is that it balances wholesomeness with real hard hitting topics like sexism, genocide, political brainwash, etc. It doesn't shy away from relevant topics and executes it in a non-patronizing way, even though it's literally a kid's show. THE SHOW JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER TOO.

@@lorettabes4553people can’t honestly expect a live action netflix adaptation to even be able to hold a candle to the real show. the og show put thought even into the fighting styles of each nation and based them on real martial arts styles. the netflix choreography is just some lame shit they came up with. don’t even get me started how they butchered the personalities and once again made sokka and katara lifeless.

thank you guys so much for reacting to ATLA ⊹˚. Ik it can be a bit tedious for first time adult viewers, as it is technically a kids show, but pls know it definitely grows with its audience (kinda like harry potter). With each season the bending becomes more intense/action packed. They dive deeper into themes of war, loss, generational trauma. Characters develop, etc. So hopefully you guys continue to love it! Thank you again for being such a comfort channel ♡

Sokka starts out as something of a misogynistic asshole, but the cool thing is, as soon as he finds out that that mindset is wrong, he makes adjustments. He learns, and he apologizes for his previous behavior.

There’s nothing misogynistic about stating facts. It’s important to remember that Sokka isn’t “sexist” and doesn’t have “crazy opinions”. That’s his culture. He, a teenage boy, is the only fighter in his entire village. He was the only one standing up to the Fire nation for years after his mom was killed and all the men-who were the only warriors-went off to war. Women never fought. Katara never fought, despite being a waterbender. He fought, while the women fled and cowered, as shown very clearly in episode 1. It’s not like he was raised in our world in modern times. His worldviews are completely valid and based on his life experience. The women in his village cooked and cleaned and sewed clothes. The men hunted and fought. Those are facts to him. Not crazy opinions. He has no evidence to the contrary and no reason to doubt his experience. As for not being a good fighter, as I said, all the adult warriors were men, and they’ve been gone for years. He never received any training, just what fights he saw while the men were still at the village. For zero training, and very little firsthand experience, he’s actually an impressive fighter, able to take down grown men enlisted in the Fire Nation army and navy as a no-name Southern Water tribe boy at just 15 years old. Meanwhile the Kiyoshi warriors were raised and trained to fight since childhood, from 4 Avatar generations back. Sokka’s actually quite good for the tools and knowledge he’s been given. And the fact that he almost instantly opens his eyes and mind to new evidence as soon as he is shown to be wrong is remarkable and admirable for a 15 year-old raised in a highly conservative world.

@alfredhitchcook4996 Sokka was sexist and thdn grows out of it. *Spoilers down below* We learn at the nothern water tribe that their customes are sexist: they won't teach women to fight, only to heal. That's wrong and Katara proves why. Her grand mother literally fled the North because of the sexism. With Kama's backstory we see how in the south both male and female waterbenders fought the fire nation.

@@SnailHatan just because your experiences are limited doesn't mean your impact on others is non-existent. what you said about him is true, and it makes sense why he he was that way. here, he's sexist without knowing he is. and when he is exposed to other cultures, he sees the error of his ways immediately, which is very admirable. nobody is saying that sokka is a bad person for initially having those beliefs, but that's because he grew out of them. he was initially sexist, even if there was no way for him to know that's what he was being, even if there isn't intent, the impact still exists.

4:10 😂hahah Bryce got violated yeah I agree, what makes this show so great definitely is the amazing world building and well written characters. You just immediately accept this world that is presented to you because it all feels believable and consistent right from the beginning all the way through. You just know how exceptionally well planned out the whole story is, it's great. I really am so glad to see you 3 reacting to this show. This will only get more fun from episode to episode

"I am a warrior, but I'm a girl too" I loved this line from Suki! You can be both and accept both at the same time. You don't have to ditch your girlhood/womanhood just because you're a warrior and vice versa.
