I am an employee of Hindustan Motors. I worked there for 24 years i.e.from 1977 to 2000. It is a good Company but salary was very poor. Management is not good. It closed due to the inefficiency of Management & local political reason. Leaders of CPM were responsible for its downtrend. Because they were pressurise Company to recruit their party cadres and these persons destroy the work culture. There slogan was "asi jai maine pai kaj korle overtime chai". These persons were not working but they were taking their salaries. Next Management policy - company assembled or made whole body of Ambassador in Uttarpara factory but Isuzu engine came from new factory in Gujrat. The labourers made 75 car per day at one time but when Isuzu engine came the production was drastically lower. Because only 30 engines per week came from Gujrat to complete a car. This showed that Management of the Company were interested to close the factory. When I joined this company there worked 16000 staff & workers. But bad management policy & local political reasons and inefficiency of the then local political leadership were the main reason for its downfall.

I was as a driver in Tata Steel Co. from year 1981. That time our co. Used only Ambassador car for all over India branches. Ambassador has a powerfull engine. You don't believe me once I push a BEST double decker bus in Mumbai near fort area. I have a proud of my Indian vehicle "AMBASSADOR"

We had an Ambassador mark 3 as our family car. Driving it was a charm. The spacious and comfortable interior was the highlight of Amby. Great car.

I have travelled in Ambasador car and in many other cars But the sitting comfort in Ambasador is far superior to that in other cars as there was no jerking in ambasador.l wish that Ambasador should return.

Mere father ke pas Ambassador mark 4 tha. Bahut comfortable aur specious car tha. Uske pehle Austin aur Fiat 1100 car tha, lekin comfortable Ambassador aur Austin me jyada tha. Maine driving bhi Ambassador car main sikha tha. Uske bad mere papa Maruti omni van, Maruti 800 AC model, Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10 purchase kia tha, but Ambassador ke sath attachment alag tha. 2007-11 तक मैं जब पोर्ट ब्लेयर में था, काफी समय तक मैं इसी कार से ऑफ़िस जाया करता था। बहुत अच्छा अनुभव रहा। आगे भी अवसर मिला तो पुनः इस कार का लुत्फ उठाना चाहूंगा।
जी जी बिल्कुल सही बंद होने का कारण जो भी रहा हो पता नहीं लेकिन भाई सेप्टी की तो फुल गारंटी थी कहीं ठोकदी हो तो अन्दर बैठे हुए को सिर्फ मामूली चोट ही आती और बोडी इतनी मजबूत कि थोड़ा सा कलर खरोंच ही आता था इसमें बैठे हुए किसी की मोत नहीं होती थी आज करोड़ रुपये की कार में सेफटी के नाम पर सिर्फ गुब्बारा मिलता है जिसे एअर बैग कहते हैं
अबेसडर कार सान दार और बहुत मज़बूत अंदर से बहुत स्पेस था आज अगर ऐ कार कम कीमत में मार्केट में आजाता जरूर स्वदेशी गाड़ी ज़रूर बहुत ग्राहक जो स्वदेशी भारतीय अबसड़र कार 100% खरीदार होना निश्चित होगा 🙏🇮🇳🙏
मैं उत्तरपारा का ही रहनेवाला हूं, ये हिंदमोटर जगह पर अवस्थित था, जहां कम से कम १२००० कर्मचारी तो रहे ही होंगे। उसके अचानक बंद हो जाने से (जब मैं बहुत छोटा था)बहुत लोग बेकार हो गए थे, उनके परिवार भुखमरी झेल रहे थे।

We had an Amabassador MarkIII. It was an awesomely comfortable car. We bought it just before they introduced captain seats in front with a floor gear shift. Its gear stick located like the wiper stick today, it would break often and when we travelled to & from Mumbai to Indore, we used to keep one or two extra sticks. Fuel efficiency was unheard of back then. The steering was heavy and the driver's chest would pain if he drove for more than four-five hours at a stretch. ACs had just come in and they had to be attached below the front facia.
I had a chance to travel &drive many kind of four wheelers but still Ambassador was on top of my list followed by Chevrolet.
Hindustan motors ke pas agar business mind hota to desh me funds ki kami nhi hai.. Ambassador aaj India ki rolls royce hoti.. just like royal enfield👍👍

अटल बिहारी जी अगर नहीं फंसे होते तो एम्बेसडर का काम चलता रहता। और मेरे गांव के पास ही घनश्याम दास बिड़ला जी का पुस्तैनी गांव और बंगला है लेकिन वहां चौकीदार रहते हैं परिवार के लोग पहले कलकत्ता और फिर लंदन अमेरिका चले गए। बिरला परिवार में भी संपत्ति का झगड़ा इतना अधिक बढ़ गया था कि कोर्ट कचहरी के सिवाय उस धनाढ्य परिवार को और कुछ नहीं दिखता था। संपत्ति भी इतनी अधिक थी कि उनको खुद को अंदाजा नहीं था और झगड़े में परिवार बिखर गया है। चौथी पांचवीं पीढ़ी को बिना मेहनत किए अरबों खरबों की जायदादें बंटवारे में मिल जाने से उद्योग पर से ध्यान हट गया और एक दूसरे को नीचा कैसे दिखाया जाए इस पर लगने लगा और इसका शिकार बना एम्बेसडर कार।
सर, vedio is good to cover Hindustan Motors. Apart of Ambassador , one more upper class model was from HM is Contessa Classic. We had a Ambassador from 1987 to 2010 onwards. We have grown up with this car and have sweet memories too. HM should restart its production if possible.

We had Ambassador Mark-II from 1968 (Price around ₹ 27,000/-) and the same Car was in running condition till 2001 ( with 3 times Body repairing and Engine Overhauling). Then bought Maruty 800 (Bharat-II), SURPRISINGLY the this car is also still in running Condition !!
Rear seat of Ambassador car was most comfortable for long journey. It was also the best vehicle for taxi operation, and it was also confirmed in some international road test for taxies.

Low accident rates claimed as the total cars were very high for calculations. Kisi ne dusri chalai nahi is liye euphorial memories of car drive is attached with Amby, but it definately gripped roads and only driver had seating issues. Passangers enjoyed. Buy old convert to disel and on road with AC was the TREND.

1989 travelled to Kedarnath and Badrinath in Ambassador.Passengers were 6 adults including driver and 4 children 3-8 yrs of age,very comfortable journey covered about 1200 km.

Sir ji mai khud Hindustan motors ke uttarpara plat mei Kam karta tha , aap jo jo रीजन बोले वो सब ठीक है।लेकिन इसमें भ्रष्ट्राचार काफी हो रहा था अंतिम दिनों में सारे वर्कर दिन भर बैठे रहते थे अंतिम घंटों में मैनेजमेंट डिसीजन लेता था की 30 गाड़ी बनेगी शॉप मैनेजर अनाउंस करता था की आप लोगों को एक्स्ट्रा 300 रुपया दिया जाएगा आप लोग अपना एक्स्ट्रा टाइम में काम करके घर जा सकते हैं वर्करों को 300 रुपया देकर ज्यादा का बिल बनता था।

I maintained & owned Ambassador mark 4 till 1996. It was really most comfortable with spacious car. One of the advantages was easy access to engine portion i. e. for minor fault I could mend with nomina effort & cost as well.

I had my first car Ambassador purchased in 1982. This was an excellent car for all terrains. Best advantage the car could be repaired by local mechanics even in remote locations of India. The spare parts cost were very low unlike in today's cars.

I was having Ambassador car for about 4 years. It was really comfortable, cozi car. I was saying in a chemical factories quarters. since metal body was not corrosion proof. Body started corroding. I was not having alternative rather than to sale out the car. But still I love this car. Once 12 persons travelled in the car the speed of 40 kmph.
