The Braceros are in many ways the foundation of today's lively Latino community and many of the values, beliefs, and experiences that form California's Latino culture can be traced to this influential group.

I too believe that more people need to know about this important part of history. I am an undergrad writing a thesis on the Bracero program, however, through a gendered lens that focuses on the women and children and how it affected the family dynamic and the long term socio/economic effects on the family. I invite Bracero family members to contact me if they would like their stories documented.
My Grandpa was a Bracero😢 El me contaba como muchos perdieron la vida y todo lo que sufrieron y como los humillaban para poder entrar como braceros.
My grandpa was a bracero he just passed away he would tell us stories about how he worked the d3 d4 tractors on a cotton farm. Miss him so much .
Both my grandfathers uncles on both sides and my father were braseros....they worked in terrible conditions 100° heat and freezing conditions, but they kept going to provide for their families with the intention of some day of giving them a good life

The USA needed help from Mexico how ironic. And the worse part is the U.S dictated the terms on the program contracts.
