For episode 200 you should each show off your collection. I'd like to see how you store and organize your collections. Also show us some of your most prized cards.

8 player game of of commander for ep.200. you guys left out the best part of that song..."darling it's better, down where it's wetter take it from me."
A super episode of game knights, twice the length as normal with your favourite decks

Howzit guys! I'm an elementary school teacher and I've just found Command Zone and man you guys are awesome! Thanks for having such a clean and clear podcast that I can use to help teach my students Magic strategies. With your help I will be able to train the next wave of EDH masters! Great job!
I built around this commander and I’m so far undefeated with it. I really enjoy playing the deck. Mine is about making them big with +1/+1 counters and making them unblockable.
awesome! it;s your 200th episode. congrats guys!
you guys are pumping out vids like crazy thank you so much
Maybe live game knights whith some epic decks and epic guests for ep 200??
Why not paradox engine? It's such an amazing card but especially so in a deck focused on tapping and untapping.
I love my Kumena deck. its drives people crazy in my playgroup. You guys gave me ideas for upgrades.
Do top commanders for each archetype. Ex. Best voltron, control, combo, tribal etc

Idk how they would do a best tribal commander because they’d have to pick a best tribe or do one for every tribe, but that does sound like a great idea
Josh - the big blue tribal block other than merfolk that you were trying (unsuccessfully) to remember - wizards. (Sure, they're not blue exclusive, but they're definitely ubiquitous in blue.) (Really fun game knights btw, and great to get the associated deck breakdowns so we can see them in action and get to understand some of the ideas behind them.)

At one point they mentioned trying to replace merfolk with vedalken as the signature blue tribe since you couldn't place merfolk on as many worlds. But I think they abandoned that idea. Also vedalken don't really help each other out at all.
@danpearman270
6 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I hadn't heard that - always kinda pictured Vedalken as limited to one or two planes (guess I never really paid enough attention to how many sets they were in, lol). And yeah, definitely not the most cooperative tribe...
Idea for an episode: doctor a deck from Game Knights that lost.

Building my Simic Kumena deck right now! can't wait to pilot it!
I kinda feel like intruder Alarm would have been good in this deck, especially if you can stack triggers where Merfolk come down and you can double tap stuff.
just started buoling kumena commander deck andhere's the vid. thanx a lot!
Sure Minamo can untap Kumena, but do you know what it can also untap? Gaea's Cradle/Ithlimoc
I packed this one yesterday, and my friends were SO jealous like omg it was amazing! XDD Btw keep on the great work guys I love your content and I fell in love with this channel and MTG the moment I was introduced to the both of them! 💕🙋
Blue Is heavy in wizards. For episode 200 just play commander on a stream.

I might suggest to modify that idea a little bit. Make it 2 headed commander , so you are a total of 8 players ( 4 teams with 2 commanders each ). Would love to see how that turns out :D
I'll add to the Untappers section the intruder alarm, with the kumena's draw ability you can draw a buch of cards, just tapping 3 playing 1 and drowing again. Nice show, keep going.
You can even tap merrow commerce for Kumena

And it looks like his ability will put a +1/+1 counter on Merrow Comerce for that Opalescence you can't play in these colors :P
Awesome deck tech, and sweet follow up to the most recent Game Knights!
Probably my fave deck I've seen on the show to date :D It's good at adapting to so many situations with that value engine it has
When you guys were talking about the card that was "probably staple for any tribal deck now" but then went over how blue lacks a lot of tribal themes, I was thinking of how "insects" with the locust god are a "tribe" as a sort of half sarcastic point. And then you revealed the card you were talking about, which is the tribal enchantment thats so good in the Locust god that it legitimately tries to kill you by drawing yourself to death.
so excited to see the commander game with the prof and wedge with their own decks!
Episode 200 Ideas 1. Top Ten Lists of random things you guys do around MTG / playing commander (food, play habits, deck creation rituals, organization tips, whatever) 2. Review some of the top custom created fan MTG cards or provide some of your own card ideas that you would like to see come to a commander deck in the future. 3. Predict and talk about what you'd like to see in the 2018 Commander Pre-con decks
Episode idea: What is your opinion on 1 v 1 commander? I use to have a larger play group years ago but now it's just me and a friend. We love playing, creating new interesting decks. We loosely play by 1 v 1 rules (Sol ring, tops, tutors in decks, 40 life), but we normally have long games because we use cards that are good against each other's decks. Maybe this help guys. Love your show! Keep up the good work!
Episode 200 would be EPIC if you brought on Justin Parnell and Jonathan Suarez from Commander VS as your guests. Fusing my two favorite EDH content chennels.

Matai Richard Bowen Seth (if you mean Seth Manfield aka SaffronOlive) isn't really known for EDH though. I mean, he'd be an awesome guest in general about deckbuilding in general/nifty interactions, but maybe not on the 200th episode celebration of an EDH-specific podcast...
Yeah, I made that planeswalker connection too! I wonder if Kumena will have a spark that ignites sometime later in the story, just based on his effects...
Jimmy: Benefactors Draught and vitalize would be pretty awesome in that deck. Seems as though untapping is the biggest thing you need, and there's not much better than tapping to draw cards, casting draught, attacking, and drawing more cards.
A small point about Path of Discovery that I love, its pretty nuts in Sidisi, Brood Tyrant where you can just get 6-7 zombies all in one creature mill trigger.
Here's an idea for Episode 200: have as many Game Knight guests (along with you two) on to have an epic EDH gauntlet of greatness! But here is the twist: you two start off hosting the show, with the subject belng a deck tech (Deck Drs???) but when a game finishes, the winner replaces one of you two and you join into the new game, cycling through as many guests as possible to host! Also I think a massive Q&A would be quite nice! Just a thought.
I’m currently building a Merfolk tribal Commander deck since I got Kumena in my first booster box of ROI, Thanks for the info and advices
Great episode guys! I was looking forward to this one. I opened Kumena in my prize packs from the pre-release, and have started making a deck around him. A lot of the base of my deck is from this deck/the deck you used in Game Knights, but I've made a couple of changes. I currently have Mirror of the Forebears in the deck in addition to Mirage Mirror. A lot of the Merfolk lords are not Legendary, so paying 1 mana to give your Merfolk another boost until end of turn seems good to me. It also works very well with Merrow Reejerey, Seafloor Oracle, Stonybrook Banneret, etc. Getting the abilities on those twice just seems awesome. I also run Murkfiend Leige. Untapping your creatures each turn, in addition to giving your creatures +1/+1 (+2/+2 in some instances, including Kumena) also seems very good. He is also a good creature to copy with Mirage Mirror, since he is not legendary ;) I'm thinking about trying out Throne of the God-Pharoah in the deck (2 mana legendary artifact. At the beginning of your end step, each opponent loses life equal to the number of tapped creatures you control). Tapping my creatures on my turn seems bad, but with enough cards like Murkfiend Leige/Seedborn Muse, it could be good. I look forward to reading the comments and getting some more ideas. Thanks again for the content! You two, as well as your team, always do great work. :)
I propose that a game knight with all of the winning decks from all other game knights with the users of those decks if available too. It would be interesting to see how the decks would interact, being form past sets and all, plus just seeing all of the decks back in action would be very cool to watch.
Ill put my hat in the ring. I think the best thing you guys could do would be going hard with 5 color commanders. What I mean is 4 5 color commanders. Scion dragon (josh piloting) Sliver overload (the professor at the helm) Horde of notions Allies This would be very entertaing because of all the different interactions.
I would also love to see your guy's edh collections for episode 200!
For the 200th episode I think a game using EDHrec would be fun. Either guess the commander after naming three cards commonly in that deck, or play it in a form of the game Taboo where the other person has to describe the commander and you guess, but there are words you can’t use. (I.e. Commander: Lazav, Taboo: Mill, graveyard, clone, copy, any card names etc.)
Love the deck and the show! Y'all sold me on commander format and it's been my favorite. Ep. 200, everyone plays Praetors/all Infect decks. Give Craig a taste of his own medicine! (I love infect)
You had a merfolk episode without prof? Is that allowed?

With the Deeproot Waters, if you reach that critical mass and pull out that board wipe before you have dumped all the fish in your hand, thats a win-win. Plus it helps rebuild after the board wipe. I really like it.
Nobody's talking about Josh's shirt? It's FREAKING AMAZING GUYS!
lots of good ideas for my Tish Fish deck!
2 Headed Commander game for Ep.200 could be cool, it'd be interesting to see you guys build decks that compliment and work well together!
It feels reeaaly good when you know the song the guys are singing in the intro (or.. er.. after intro?) :))
Hadana's climb is really good in Ezuri, Claw of Progress where you put all your counters on Wild Beastmaster and then attack full swing. You will have those experience counters by turn 6 with Ezuri's ability.
For your 200th episode, you could invite a friend over, and run an Un-birthday game with only Un-set cards used to build the decks. I would suggest you use the three archetype cards as your commanders. Johny, Combo Player, Timmy, Power Gamer, and Spike, Tournament Grinder.
I see some people talking about a Game Knights special episode for 200. Maybe a live match/recording of a live match? I would love to maybe see a long special of Deck Doctoring. You probably have a backlog of decks you could go through. Or: Get special guests in and have them make a list of top 10 "insert interesting topic here". OR!: Go back to an old deck tech you made, and update it with cards released since then, if it would make sense to change/update it. Hint Riku with Sunbird's, Rashmi and Maelstrom Wandere ;)
I think showcasing your best decks is gonna be awesome. Maybe have a guest AND showcase their best decks too.
I would love to see a classic command zone as episode 200. Nothing but Classic iconic staples. With the Proff of course and a 4th fan favorite guest.
An episode of organizing magic collections. Also, show off your collections.
this deck is very similar to an azami lady of scrolls deck i have and you guys are right surge spanner is that good. also freed from the real sounds amazing in this deck.
If you guys are looking for show ideas here are 2 things. They may be pedestrian suggestions but I think people would like them. 1. MORE DECK DOCTORS: You guys have referred multiple times to how popular they are. I know they're a lot of work but they encompass a couple of great things that I think most of your listeners are into. - Real deckbuilding discussion within the context of a specific commander. - Serves as a commander spotlight - Theorycrafting, theme and synergy discussion 2. Color Pie Videos but about Guilds and Tri-Color Your mono-color pie videos are great, and included a small afterword for each color combination. They did an awesome job educating about what each individual color is about. The interaction of color pairs is complex enough to discuss in a full video if you guys feel like it. You could overview what the strong synergies are, how they cover each others weaknesses, what the color pair struggles to do, popular archetypes in the color pair, and staple cards in the color pair.
Couple cards not mentioned that were instant includes to my Kumena build: Curse of Bounty which both benefits your tap/untap and encourages attacks at another player, Quest for Renewal because Kumena can potentially power that up without attacks in a single turn, Murkfiend Liege again for untap and as an anthem for your creatures, and Paradox Engine. Also I really like Lullmage Mentor both for control if you have a large board, you could just tap 7 merfolk to counter that board wipe, and because counterspells in your hand mean more merfolk, and Vodalian Illusionist to protect one of your creatures.
For episode 200, both of you should do deck techs for your favorite personal decks never featured on the show. I would like to know what makes you have the most fun. Thanks!
29:26 I still play Kindred Discovery in my Ur-Dragon deck, because with the number of discount cards I use (Herald's Horn, Urza's Incubator, Dragonlord's Servant, Dragonspeaker Shaman, etc.), sometimes I do get to drop three dragons a turn. Still very winmore, even for Commander.
I love watching jimmy when josh is talking
Thanks Jimmy! I recently made this deck but subbed a lot to get it down to under 300$. My husband hates it 😂😬
For your 200th, you should bring in all of your Game Knights participants so far to play a massive EDH game, playing all of your own personal decks.
I drafted rivals recently and the very first pack I had had this crazy good commander
AWESOME DECK JIMMY :P ! I think I'm going to make one!
Love this deck tech may work around making a commander
Maybe a video on how to get started as a new player in commander?
Kumena is a dude. . .love the podcast and you guys!
For episode 200, it should be a GameKnights where you all play 5 color commanders.
I would love to see you guys play some decks built by your fans.
Does anyone know where I can find full art lands for sale (the kind that was included in the Unstable packs)?
Maybe for episode 200 you can have the audience send you deck lists and you can give us suggestions on what to add? It'd be pretty nice for most of us to get some insight on what to add, and itd be a pretty great way to show appreciation to your fans. Not every show gets to episode 200, so keep up the good work!
Hey guys, i've been watching you for a while, but i just recently attempted to build a commander deck(s). My collection consists of few old set cards (Coldsnap, Future shift) and then Kaladesh, Amonkhet.....up to Rivals. I don't have any Sol rings or any of the staples needed and I was wondering can I still play Commander from these cards I mentioned. I attempted to build a Rishkar deck as I have Kaladesh +1 counter cards, Amonkhet -1 counter cards and Ixalan merfolk +1 counter cards, but then I realized I am missing about 20 sleeves. How do you guys keep up with having multiple decks (and therefore, multiple hundred sleeves)? Thanks for the answers :)
As for the special episode, you should play that 5 player commander thing when each has a role that relates to other roles, like Knight, King etc.
Idk about best but that last game knights episode jimmy had soooo much synergy with kumena.
For episode 200, or any episode for that matter, you should pick your favorite set/expansion/plane in mtg and from it pick a commander. From there build a deck flavored around the set/plane.
Was combing through my collection and stumbled on at least one novel find for "Cards that have been errata'd to be Merfolk": Ceta Disciple, which according to one person on gatherer, is on the short list of Temur "sergeants" for "pauper EDH". Unplayable in Kumena (and maybe in commander in general. ymmv), but a neat blast from the past when I was digging for merfolk. I'm thinking I'm going to maindeck Vodalian Merchant and Elephant Grass. A NON-Merfolk from more recent times that might fit in nicely, given you want to go wide(ish), is Majestic Myriarch. It's not necessarily the best build for the myriarch's abilities, but I love to find niches for the random mythics that found their way into my collection without a home.
Mirage Mirror is the best commander card to hit in several sets!! That card is SO SO good!!! I ordered 3 playsets after playing it a few times now. It goes into every deck from now on. My best use of it lately was copying a turn 4 Kozilek Butcher of Truth, as my opponent's Kozi had summoning sickness, he was helpless to watch when on my turn, I tapped two mana, and swung in... and he had to sac his Kozi and 3 permanents due to its Annihilator 4 trigger. he scooped... It was sick!!!
Love Zombies with Kindred discovery. It's etb so tokens work too
For episode 200, I want you guys to draft a commander cube. Commander Cube is not currently really a thing, but I've got one and it rocks.
just opened a foil Kumena and a Hadana's Climb from a single pack and saw this episode, thank god
For episode 200 make a pentagram commander match (this 5 player version). You can either play mono colourde decks and arrange as the 5 dots on the backside of every magic card or play hydra vs sphinx vs demon vs angel vs dragon.
Episode 200. A game nights of your favorite decks.
For episode 200 you should talk about your favorite decks and how you came to built them would be very interesting. Also what's good in you guys meta.
Seahunter is the Merfolk version of Moggcatcher, a Goblin tribal staple :)
For 200 you should play commander with your strongest/favourite decks. Also thanks for making these videos you helped me learn magic and started to play with friends.
Great Content as alsways :) But i love the chilis-sauce in the background
I would say one of two things. Either do a 6-8 player Commander game on Episode 200, or show off your collection and show us how you store it and organize it. Already suggested, I know, but these sound like the best options to me.
I have a noyan dar deck I'm working on with a bunch of awaken cards and you can use general tazri to allow all colors and get noyan dar to your hand
For episode 200, you should play with your Athreos/Shadowborn deck on stream, Josh! I built the deck and would love to see the differences in your playstyle and built and mine!
For the 200th episode How about sort of a retrospective on how the show has changed your views on the commander format? How you've changed as players. Or perhaps your top favorite commanders?
I still think episode 200 should be a game knights with Craig and another popular person who has been on the show and all play your favorite deck! Not based off anything else or any of that. Each of you should bring a personal favorite deck that you have for your own play and not for the other episodes or things like that. I think it would just be fun for you guys to get together for that and then it will also allow everyone else to get a good idea of how you guys play and see you playing your favorite decks which would be enjoyable for everyone!
Dramatic Reversal/Isochron Sceptar Combo would be perfect for this
Episode 200: Top commander you've never played and never played against, but would love to try. (each of you pic 1 commander, +99, thus a total of 200 cards combined)
Hey guys! i was just wondering if you guys an do a deck tech on Rhys the redeemed, i got him a few months ago and built him a deck as a commander. Want to see if what card you pick to put in the deck match some of the cards i have in my deck right now. Thanks for the show and what you do! Keep it up and play on!
You can run Arcane Adaptation in the deck and make everything(Including that tutor) a Merfolk
Episode 200 idea! - EDH Jeopardy! Basically make a Jeopardy board with trivia from Commander, or even a short list of staples in a deck, then answer with, "What is a ______ deck!"
For episode 200, just do a quick overview/gameplay of your personal favorite decks. Really what EDH is about :)
28:25 Me: "WIZARDS. F'ING WIZARDS." Josh: "I'm probably missing a big one right now." Me: "YES. YOU ARE."
My favorite Disney movie is actually The Black Cauldron released 1985 XD
If there was enough time to get it together, you should try to get all of the guests you've had on the show and have a big Game Knights tournament
For episode 200, maybe you guys could do a clip show episode with your favourite moments from the Command Zone and Game Knights
For the 200th episode, you should review your first couple episodes, see how far you two have come!
You should do some SWEET unstable commanders for a special episode. I know that you've already done some deck techs for them, but you should play them on an episode of game knights.
