Since I had to remove the hydrostatic drive, it was challenging to design a plastic fan guard that was simple, effective and instead of using a skid plate, this allows access to the underbelly.

💥 I’d be willing to bet you could go without a fan altogether. I’ve seen quite a few guys who be realized their fan blades have busted off long after the fact. However, I wouldn’t want to risk it. Hope your idea works out well. *Keep on tractoring!* 👍

Because I was mostly using the FEL or backhoe, I ran 1000 hours without replacing the fan. If one was plowing or extensively mowing, probably better to have something.
I'd be interested to know if it still moves air. The point of the blade is to pull air from one side to the other. Your design essentially forces it to only push the air already in front. It may starve.

First item I checked, and I can actually feel the air flow blowing out the rear of the tractor. The effect focuses the air in a stream because of the edge guard. Think of a boat propeller with a shroud.
I am an HVAC mechanic and I can guarantee this fan won’t move air at all. Perhaps 5% of nominal airflow if the fins manage to grab a few tiny bits from the sides. Why do you think Kubota’s engineers couldn’t think of a protective cover? Please be a decent human being and remove this video before someone uses your idea and kills their HST.

@@ya472 If my credentials aren’t good enough that’s fine. A good idea might be for you to call the service department at your local Kubota dealer and ask them what they think of your invention.

@@differenthandyman938 Well, go look at all my videos, where the 'mechanics' at Kubota learn something from me. I modified the BX25 differential lock, which I got a lot of flack for, but it is operational , durable and suitable for the BX series. Somehow though, when one stands behind my BX25 with 2650 hours on it, there is a nice warm wind, and it isn't me talking too much, or bragging. You aren't the first person from the circus to comment and argue about how 'that fan' can't work. LOL

And by the way, Visit the Facebook Kubota BX forums(2 main ones), there is a lot one can learn in there. Then, for fun, try criticizing my engineering, and prepare for some backlash from the groups. LOL
