Kubota b3200 sticking forward pedal / starting problem interlock

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I was asked to look at this fairly new Kubota tractor where it would fail to start more and more. It also would creep Forward. I discovered the Forward / Reverse pedals were sticking slightly resulting in creep when you let go of the control. This sticking pedal also resulted in failure to start as the interlock would interrupt the circuit unless the pedals were jostled to find the Neutral position.
I found on this fairly new tractor's linkage only required lubrication, however if yours is older and has a lot of rust, you may need to remove that shaft and work the surface smooth with like a wire wheel on desk grinder, sandpaper or similar. The fit is fairly close - overkill for what that rod does which is press the neutral safety switch. Some waterproof grease would be the best bet but since this tractor was pretty new and clean, and its stored inside, I merely lubricated it with oil from a can. I hope this helps you.

    Thank you so much! I could not find a decent IPB to find where the safety switches were mounted. My switch was stuck open and would not allow my B3300SU to start.

    Great video Scott! My tractor was dead up in the field and I knew it had to be a switch because it was running fine until I got off the tractor and installed. Phone that rod just stuck tight in the tube that runs through lubed it up and away the tractor went. Thank you again

    I have a Kubota B2620 with these same problems. It has been a safety concern as the HST peddle will stick in the forward or reverse position while I'm travelling. Could result in a serious accident. I'll try fixing it as you suggest but I think Kubota should have a recall to protect themselves form potential lawsuits when someone get injured or killed. Thanks Scott for posting this fix.

    Thanks! Very informative. Got my B2630 running again after I watched this. The throttle switch worked itself loose from it's mounting, and moved slightly outward, and away from the tractor. This caused it to no longer be aligned with the throttle linkage. In this condition, the throttle linkage failed to depress the plunger on the throttle switch when the throttle pedal was in the neutral position. So, the OPC would not permit me to start the tractor with the key. I had to jump start the tractor at the starter solenoid to get it fired up. I also experienced a sticking throttle pedal, since the linkage was hanging up on the side of the throttle switch. The fix was simple. I just pushed the switch back into it's mounting and into alignment with the throttle linkage and presto, she starts again! Got to figure a way to tighten the switch lock nuts without disassembling half the tractor. This is a really lousy design. Shame on Kubota. 1100 hours in 11 years on the tractor and I've had five separate failures of the OPC system over the years that have shut down my tractor.

    Hello, I have a 2630 as well and the dash lights up but won't turn over. Did you replace the neutral switch or the OPC?

  • @NagoyaT99

    @NagoyaT99

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@billyroeder8627 Hi. Where to start on this topic!? First check your OPC fuse. It's clearly marked as such in the fuse box. 5 Amp. If the fuse is good, are you getting a click sound when you turn the key? That's the fuel solenoid. If you aren't hearing that very loud click, then you might have a different problem. If you hear the click, but the starter won't engage and spin the engine, then it is likely the OPC circuit. My problems over the years have been with the neutral switch that prevents the engine from being started if the transmission lever is not in neutral, as well as with the throttle switch. I have not replaced the OPC. I have had the neutral safety switch replaced. But, they last about a year and then break again, immobilizing the tractor. You need to go through the obvious stuff first before you start suspecting the OPC module, which is under the dash. Also check the switches under the seat for continuity with a VOM.

    Amazing ! Had the same problem on my B3200 2011 with only 200 hours. Solved in few minutes without any tool by spraying some WD40 on the head of the switch combined with pushing the pedals 10 times. Because of the jam of this switch I couldn't also move the rear PTO shifter. It's not blocked anymore. Super. J'ai un le même problème sur mon B3200. Réglé en quelques minutes sans aucun outils. Envoyer du WD40 directement sur la tête de la switch tout en pesant environ 10 fois sur la pédale pour avancer. En raison de ce problème, cela bloquait aussi la manette de la PDF arrière. Maintenant tout est débloqué et mon tracteur démarre comme un neuf.

    Kubota is now starting to admit that the design has issues, I just got my B2620 back the dealer with the same issue you explained. Because my tractor was out of warranty but had been to the shop repeatedly for that issue kubota adjusted my warranty and covered the repair, they are also fixing the problem with the mower decks not locking in the full up right position with a new adjustment cam.

    Fantastic video, very well done! I have an L3540 that my grand kids were playing on, and they left the headlights on which ran down the battery. I charged up the battery, but the tractor wouldn't do anything when I turned the key. I was almost ready to go buy a new battery, when I stumbled upon your video. All I had to do was go out and actuate the forward/reverse pedal a few times, turn on the key, and start the tractor. Gave a lecture to the grand kids about how dangerous a tractor can be, and promptly toasted you with a nice Scotch and soda. I love my Kubota, and really feel bad if it doesn't work.

    2013 B3350HSDC. Sometimes one overlooks the obvious. Your video brought focus!! Failed to start a few months back and got it going by rocking HST pedal back and forth. This time it simply would not start not matter what. The problem was the neutral sense switch had moved outboard in its slotted mounting bracket so the tab on the control arm (it doesn't use a sliding rod as in the video) was completely missing the switch plunger (switch looks to be same part). Pushed switch inboard and it slid in the slot back into position. Problem solved . . . managed to tighten it slightly but I'll need to make a 21mm crows foot wrench of some sort to tighten the switch. Maybe I'll try a long center punch to see if I can nurse it a bit tighter. Might be possible to use safety wire to keep it from moving out, though it is exceedingly tight with not a lot of clearance to do that. Anyway, tractor is running again - thank you!!

    have a kubota thats been sitting for a year inside a metal building, it was well cared for and worked fine before the owner passed away. we tried to start it to move it and wouldn't start. , mine is not turning over, battery fully charged, glow light is on and steady, oil pressure light is on. starter solenoid not clicking when you turn the key, just nothing. this says a lot, not fuel system, not yet anyway until it turns over, I am not at the location to check this switch but from the last few videos about this issue i'm thinking this is probably what is going on. fuses are good to. I thought I'd add these details because "won't start" is a bit of a general term , could be a whole list of things, the difference between not turning over and turning over and not kicking and running is a lot of things you don't have to check to find the problem. so for those who have had this switch issue, does what i describe sound like what was going on with what yours did and the sticking switch turned out to be the issue?

  • @dirkdaddy2

    @dirkdaddy2

    Yes it would not turn over, like yours. There are a few safety switches beyond one in the video, including a seat sensor. I would also use jumper cable to starter solenoid make sure battery is capable of turning over engine. Related to this video you can try holding start position then rocking the propulsion foot control I show jn video.

    I just had this happen on my B2920. It did this same thing about a week ago and would not start. I checked other safety switches and still nothing. I moved the forward reverse pedal back and forth a few times and it started. I wasn't even aware of the HST safety switch at the time. Yesterday i did a search on this problem and ended up on this site. The rod that pushes against the safety switch was stuck, and would not move in either direction. I used WD 40 to loosen it and put "NEVER SEIZE" onto the rod. Im not sure if it was a good idea or not , only time will tell. The tube where this rod slides through should have been a bigger diameter, it is to tight fitting ! BAD Design KUBOTA. Thanks for you help with your post !

    +john reimer Yes, why they used such tight tolerances on the underside of a tractor, using mild steel sort of metal that can rust is questionable. Or put a grease fitting on it. I'm glad doing this video helped you and others. :) Subscribe if you want, I'm going to upgrade my production (wouldn't be hard) and have some more in the idea phase.

    We have l series. Just today it started sputtering and dying, but I made it back to the shop. Everything is checking out, and it's leading me to think that the sarvo solenoid is going bad. I hear they are nearly 300 bucks! Hfs! I'm going to take it out this morning and seal over the hole. It has one of those levers just above it that can shut the engine off of which I'll run a cable with a spring. And this will do temporarily. Then I will mow with the tractor here on the level field for a while and see if it starts dying again. Also I will call Kubota shop and see if they can test this sarvo. They are kind of rip offs artists. I'm helping my stepdad with this tractor so I'm learning about it. These hydrostatic tractors. I'm used to clutch tractors. Anyway. Do you know what the servo functions are other than allowing you to start and turn off the engine? He doesn't even have a mechanics manual for this thing. Iyai

Then it'll start and sputter I made it back to the shop. Everything checks out of zeroed in on the servo. Under 70 bucks free shipping. They say they go bad and it's been 12 years since we bought the tractor. They wanted almost $300 for the part at the Kubota shop. I told them thank you very much and walked out. They wouldn't even test the old one. Oh well under 70 bucks I'll have a new one. And give her a test run out in the field mowing. Going to go over the switches you were talking about too give a little oil in them sometimes they get sticky and someone will say hey she ain't starting and I'll say your foot pedals and stuff and such may be off a little bit and they'll tap it or jiggle it and then the dang thing starts up and runs fine. But for now I'm waiting on that servo. Yes I checked all fuses they good. New fuel filter. All oils and lubricants have been changed in their filters. Air filters check. If it's not the servile someone was talking about the key switch I think it was you. I felt up behind with my fingers and it feels like it's all rubber sealed off. Hard to imagine that it's fouled.
