On second thought, I might ask my friend to quote me on this work. Doubt I would get this done in one day without needing to take everything apart again the next day. .

Do you have to remove the engine to replace the shifting forks?

How do you adjust the timing? The manual incorrectly displays this part as it shows the stator mounted to the motor, NOT the cover

I know this is an older video, but any chance this is similar to the counterbalanced bike? I'm chasing a lean condition that onl happens when the bike is SUPER hot. like 240deg hard enduro. It lean bogs and stalls. REbuilt reeds, carb, top end, exh, and still persists making me think it may be a main bearing seal?

  • @EnduroTainment

@CHRISTIAAN NICOLAS HENDRIKSE Yes, crank seals. When they go bad they will leak air into the crank/combustion process causing a lean mixture, obviously more noticeable idle and is more pronounce when hot. Its good to also measure your oil perfectly every time you fill and drain to see if its losing oil through the crank seal as well, as this is a good indicator for the same condition. Once I replaced the seals(sometimes needs bearings/crank rebuild), the problem went away.

Sorry, but unfortunately we only have top end parts available for your bike. There are various bottom end components available on our OEM parts finder that you can check out here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-parts/KTM

You'll have to open up the top end and check the piston to see what size piston is actually in the bike.

80 hours yeah right lol most people don’t even need to until about 500 hours unless you’re really bad at keeping your air filter clean

Top end, yes, if you don't know the last time it's been done. Bottom end? Most likely not, they can go a long time before being rebuilt unless there's something in there that shouldn't be there.

I know you get a lot of these but I honestly think you should do this on as many bikes as you can and sell the videos I have a 16 ktm 250sxf and would be willing to pay good money for a detailed full engine rebuild , you could make money on the videos and the parts

The manual says CHANGE the connecting rod and crank pin. NO average person does this. My 2005 has been raced for years on the same crank and crank pin. KTM needs to rewrite their manual. Yeah...maybe... if you are a factory race team mechanic with unlimited access to replacement engine parts....
