Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Getting this bike ready for spring!! We continue with the Top End Overhaul of this 2001 KTM 125 SX. The cylinder is on the bike and now it's time to adjust the power valve. If you missed the explanation of the "X" and "Z" dimensions, here's the link:

Maybe a bit over confident. I did everything right but one small thing that ended up being a big big mistake. I put the inner head o-ring 'gasket' on incorrectly. It started well and ran fine while i rode slowly half way around the motocross track then bogged and stalled. Coolant leaking out and me confused what went wrong. I tore the engine apart and discovered that I had put the gasket on wrong. So much for my new piston, rings, piston pin and so on. It looks like I'll even have to get my cylinder recoated. Oh well lesson learned. I sure did learn a lot from your videos though and feel confident that next time I'll get it right. Costly learning this stuff sometimes. Btw I put the o-ring gasket on the head first but putting it around the raised part. The end result was my exhaust pipe was full of coolant. Funny now but a few hours earlier I wasn't in a very good mood. Win some and you lose some. Keep making more videos for us neophytes :)

That locking screw pushes on a piece of rubber that's about one inch long. It's round about the size of the hole that the screw goes into. Imagine an "O" ring but straight ("I"??). This may have dropped out when you removed the locking nut. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for great videos! I'm new to motocross and these videos have really helped me to understand my bike (125 sx -01) better! I was just wondering - when I turn the adjuster (03:28) I'm only able to move the control rod (03:39) upwards. When I turn it the other way the control rod doesn't move. I turned the adjuster to the "full down" positon and gently pushed the rod down with a screwdriver... Do you think something is broken inside? Is it safe to try starting the engine?

Is there a way to adjust the power valve spring preload on these older style 125 sx'? My low end power feels weak, and no real power comes on until mid-high rpm. I can tell the power valve is working, because when it does open the hit is nice and hard. I have mine set to the Langston setting. Someone was saying there is a spring tension adjuster that can be turned a little at a time to make it easier/harder for the power valve to open.

I am contemplating rebuilding my 2003 ktm 125 sx both top and bottom myself I am hoping to use your videos to do the top end do you know of any for the bottom end?? Also I have been told that vertex pistons are better than wiseco pistons I don't pretend to know much about bikes so I really haven't got a clue and living in the uk there aren't many places to get advice so any would be much appreciated. Many thanks

btw, is this z-dimension possible to fix without taking the cylinder head off? maybe if you could take a picture or something inside the cover on the cylinder? there are markers on the control arm that show its position. Im talking about the cover on the ignition side of the engine when the cylinder is installed on the engine itself :)

The bolt that is suppose to hold the power valve adjustment in place is not working on my bike. It's the bolt that he says not to unscrew it more than one revolution. I unscrewed it completely (because it's not working) and realized it's not making any contact with the nut that adjust the powervalve. How is it suppose to thold the powervalve adjustment nut in place? Is there suppose to be a rubber peice that is being pressed against the adjustment valve with this screw?

In my specific bike the power valve needs to be 42.5mm from the top of the cylinder. The only way to measure this dimension correctly is with the head off the cylinder. Check the correct dimension measurement with your engine service manual.

EliteGamers121 Mine done the same thing. I have a 2007 125 sx. Its the clutch. If you pull in the clutch the noise goes away. It sounds horrible i know but its probably just the release bearing. Try changing the transmission fluid (what fixed mine) or you may need a new clutch release bearing. I fixed mine just by changing the transmission fluid.
