In the defense of the N1. Yes it always exploded but the explosions where kinda intentional. The USSR had a completely different way of testing their rockets. Instead of building complex test-stands and similar facilities they just put one together let it fly (if it even got of the pad) watched when it exploded fixed the problem let it fly again waited for the explosion and so on. It in typical USSR style the simplest approach. For the N1 they actually planned 12 explosions (test flights) before ever getting to the moon or even to Orbit. The engineers/scientists who watched the first launch where actually pleasantly surprised that it even got of the pad on first flight. That wasn't how they planned it to be. BTW: that's also the reason why the USSR always build two launchpads for each rocket if it exploded on the pad they always could continue testing on the other pad.

That 12 planned launches thing is really interesting, where did you read it? Also, it exploded shortly after takeoff on one of the launches and they didn't launch it again for almost a year because of launchpad repairs, why did they wait if there were 2 launchpads?

It would be cool to see Squad add in Buran space shuttle parts with launcher
@kasyu1101

The buran shuttle is actually easier to recreate in stock than the regular shuttle, because the regular srbs are puny compared to reality, and the vectors have a thrust similar to that of reality, which makes no sense, but means that it’s easier to use liquid fueled boosters, like the buran.
