    Wow. Slow and clear instruction for once!!! Can I cut parts of a drawing up and place the selected animals on a single layer that I can edit to make a different visual? Not sure I got the steps correct. If I cut paste I get a different layer for each animal. Then I can't edit them when I merge into one layer. I think I have those steps wrong. I only have a stylist. Thank you!! I am looking up your work. Nice voice, accent:) and teaching!!!!! Cheers from Canada.

    hello! this is a great video about the selection tools. i really learned a lot. one question though, if i use polygon selection tool, how do i undo the last point that i set so that i don't have to start setting points all over again?

  • @BladeQuillartacademy

    @BladeQuillartacademy

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello. :Let's say that you created your selection using the polygonal selection tool. Using the left button of your mouse, left click in the middle of the selection while the selection is still active (meaning you still can see the marching ants). Click on Edit selection. The area that was selected is going to remain white and the area that wasn't selected will be red. Click on the icon Edit shapes tool. It is between the SVG text tool icon and the calligraphy icon in your toolbar. Using your cursor you can now move the nodes of your selections. Click on a node first to make is active and then move it. Click on the next node to make it active and click on the left button of you mouse. A new menu appears. You can remove that node or point if you want. When you are done moving things around, click back on your paint layer. While you were editing your selection, it opened and created a new Selection Mask... This is where you were making your changes. So, click back to your paint layer and do CTRL SHIFT A to undo the selection. The selection Mask layer will go away. I hope this helped.

    hi! sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but i don't know how to use any krita troubleshooting forums, and i didn't know where else to ask, if not on the most recent (and detailed) guide on selection tools. so, here's my question/issue: what do i do if a selection just...doesn't appear on the layer list? i can undo the action, but i can't delete it since it's not on the layer list, so...i pretty much can't use any selection tools at the moment. it's the same way on every canvas size i try, and i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling krita already, but the same selection's still there. the reason i'm super desperate for help is because i discovered this problem in the middle of a big-order commission, and having an unremovable selection on the canvas the whole time i'm trying to finish the drawing would, well...complicate things. it'd also make sketching pretty much impossible for future drawings, considering how much i use the selection tools during that stage of drawing. so, if anyone has any advice or solutions, please, PLEASE don't be afraid to let me know, it'd be a massive help ;-;

Find TRANSFORM and choose FEATHER SELECTION. Or, if you want to go faster, make a selection and hit SHIFT + F6 (shortcut). A new window will appear. You can tweak the Feather Radius using different units of measure. Use the drop down menu to choose Pixels, millimeter, centimeters, decimeters, inches, points, etc... • @BladeQuillartacademy

    @BladeQuillartacademy

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello Antal. I actually made a video lately where I show my contiguous tool settings. This is the link of the video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m4h4q8ymZMnbnJc.html You do not need to watch all the video. Just skip to minute 2:46. Grab your contiguous tool (aka the magic wand). Then, go to your Tool Options window. Make sure that the Anti-Aliasing box is checked. Play with the Grow/shrink selection slider. Try to increase the amount of pixels. In the video, I increased mine to 3 pixels. Also, play with the fuziness and feathering sliders. It takes a little while to set up the contiguous tool to work the way you want it to work. So, take your time and keep tweaking the sliders until you get it right. Finally, make sure to check the box USE SELECTION AS BOUNDARY. Please let me know if this helped you or not. Thanks.

  • @BladeQuillartacademy

    @BladeQuillartacademy

    Hello. I am afraid I do not understand the first question. Are you trying to move the selection or the object you have selected? Also, please know that when you select a shape, you are telling Krita that you want to paint or draw or add color inside the shape you selected. To be able to draw or paint outside the selection, go to SELECT and choose INVERT SELECTION. This way, you can paint outside the selection. This time no paint or drawing lines will go inside the object you selected. I hope this makes sense. Keep me posted and let me know if I did not understand your question. Cheers.

    Hello Donald. I know that Photoshop allows us to save our selections. We just go to Select and choose SAVE SELECTION and when we need it later, we can just choose LOAD SELECTION. Well, Krita does not have this option. Or, at least, to my knowledge. I wouldn't want to make you believe that I am the wizard who knows it all. Far from it... I know what I know, and I ask when I don't know. If I am right, and they don't offer this function, it would be interesting to find out if they would consider adding it into their future updates. Hello. I would guess you are trying the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + A and it is not working. You have two more options. While your selection is live and you see the little walking ants around your selected area, right-click your mouse. A little window will appear. the window is named "selection actions". You can see that "DESELECT" is the first option. Your last option is to use the tab SELECT at the very top. The tab is between the LAYER and the FILTER tabs. Same thing here, you have the "DESELECT" option in the menu. Just click on it. If nothing is working, you have a bug or something. I would uninstall Krita and reinstall it again. Or maybe, just rebooting Krita will do the trick. I hope this helps.

    To pick a specific color, use the similar color selection tool. To select a specific part of an object, use the free hand selection tool or the contiguous selection tool. To select the entire object, it’s best to use the Contiguous selection tool. However, it depends on the object. If this doesn’t work, use the free hand selection tool or the magnetic selection tool. 10:50 The magnetic selection tool 11:22 The lasso tool or free had selection tool 12:12 The magic wand or contiguous selection tool 12:31 Similar color selection tool I hope this helps a little. Selection tools work differently with different images. So, you must try each tool to see what works better. It’s a trial-and-error process. You can do it!!! Have a great day.
