Huge fan of this man. Huge fan of everything he’s done. Bought a one of a kind painted skated deck from him, shot the breeze a little bit about his mural at last year’s Tampa Am. This man is truly humble. It’s such a pleasure to see his gratitude and love and passion for where he is today. This one has indeed been a long time coming and thank you Nine Club for bringing this man on. May blessings continue to abound for you, Kris.

Massive ups to Kris Markovich bro, always looked up to him, great to hear the stories, only wish he had shortly covered The Tony Hawk Gigantic Skatepark Tour from his perspective, as for me, I was 14, 15 and 16 when those went down and it was so influential seeing skateboarding pushed to such heights and on ESPN and everything.... anyways tho, so many stories here I never knew of and mad happy to see where he is these days and how happy and content he seems via his socials currently. I skated with Kris when we were kids growing up in Gulf Breeze in the 80's. To this day I can still remember the exact moment I knew he was special. I was on top of a half pipe and he got sketchy on the coping doing a grind or something and i just knew he was gonna bail. I was watching his feet and saw him about to eat it and then magically he just got his feet back in the proper position on the board and rode it out and I knew even as a kid that no matter how much I practiced, i would never be able to do what he just did. It was just this natural reaction for him, but I knew every other person at that ramp would have crashed in that same position. I can't explain it properly, but I knew it was an important lesson for me in that moment. It was just an average recovery for him, but i knew that I could skate all day and I'd never be able to do that. I knew i had just seen a gift that none of the rest of us possessed. I wasn't jealous, just felt lucky to have seen it. Years later i played high school football with a guy who ended up on the Atlanta Falcons and it was that same feeling when i saw him run. I just knew that was the difference between regular people and a pro. Also, he was always really cool to us when we were younger. He was popular and a few years ahead of us, but he was always really nice and treated us with respect even as a teenager. He comes back home every once in a while and I've seen him from time to time over the decades and he's always been a nice guy.

After rewatching his Epicly Later'd I very much agree! It'd be so interesting to see how his career and transition into retirement were from his point of view!

@@amirdeen355 exactly! Everything about that guy seems so 'mysterious' and yet very down to earth. In my opinion best skating style for sure!

The video is WWIi Report. 1992. Adam Mcnatt skates to Speed Demon by The ....Mentors pretty sure and Markavich had last part skating to Hendrix . Snuff was a later. After the Falling Down video. It's a blur to the people who were the most involved on one side of the lens and unforgettable to everyone else sometimes.

Kris is correct about Ryan Wilburn and Pluto Sports. I went to high school with Ryan, skated with him numerous times. Pluto Sports used to be an indoor skatepark, but now is just a skate shop. Haven't spoken with Ryan in 20+ years, but heard he moved to CA and turned pro.

Kris was always one of my favorite skaters growing up. When I first started skating around age 12, I picked up the Tony Hawk trick tips video from my local shop on VHS and watched it over and over. I loved Kris's part in the video and he's probably the biggest reason I like skating 8in boards to this day, even though the trend seems to be getting wider.

It was Ramblas, I was there with him at the gate to the Olympic stadium. He had Green hair! And he was talking to us about his Mom’s company T-Bags. NSA was so jacked that they had not issued him credentials, so he was stuck outside with us. Alan Petersen came up with strawberry hair and they both laughed at each other. Eventually they let us all in. We were with a Spanish shop team. Kikoskate, but they didn’t want the Am’s and the pros skating the course at the same time. Great event in Barcelona 91!
