Fifty two years ago!
Thanks for posting. I’ve been a kris fan for many years but burden of freedom is new to me.
My God, this is a great find. Kris at the beginning -- raw and incredibly real. My husband and I saw him in July of that year at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and he was already a better performer, although he was still having trouble keeping the f-word out of is onstage vocabulary.. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but when you get outside the hipper places, it turns off some folks who won't stay to hear these great songs. Yes, I know it's their loss, but I'm still glad he cleaned up his stage mouth.
Kris, pure and simple. Love this man and everything he sings
I may have been at this show. I saw Kris at the Gaslight in 1970 or '71. What I remember was Chris Gantry was the opening act and there was a leaky pipe on the ceiling near Kris's head. The next time I saw Kris was at the Bitter End. Carly Simon opened. That was around June of 1971.
Thanks for posting! Where have you got it from? Love Burden of freedom best, because it's not often sung live by Kris.... One of my favourite songs of him, but unfortunately only seldom on the setlist. Maybe never now.... Stereo and mono circle all around my head with the recording, but this is a jewel for sure anyway 😊
