I have had this table for 1-1.5yrs, and have used it a lot. It is an incredible table, and I love it. Is it perfect? No. Is it really good for the price? Absolutely.

Thank you for this video. You have done a very good review on this router table. I purchased one of these Kreg bench router tables last year and mounted it on top of a Black and Decker workmate 450. I collapsed the feet of the Black and Decker workmate before placing the Kreg Bench router table on top of the Workmate. With pockets drilled at the corners of the Workmate i lowered the Kreg Bench router table onto the Workmate and the feet of the Kreg Bench Router Table rest within the pockets that I had drilled. The overall height from the floor to the top surface of the Kreg Bench router table is 39 1/2" and seems to be a good stable height for me (5'10"). This Kreg Bench Top Router table is very stable and has not moved at all under and load. When I bought the Kreg Bench router table my plans were to use this tool inside the house so dust collection was critical as we all know how much sawdust a router can produce. I solved that issue by installing a floor, back, sides and front covers to the Bench Top Router table. I mounted a dust collection port to the rear face of the Bench router table in addition to the factory dust port on the fence. The front face of the Kreg Bench router table is removable (attached and held in place by rare earth magnets) and provides a storage place for items and allowing for easy vacuuming of any missed sawdust. The dust collection that I installed is not 100% efficient but with this Bench router table being enclosed the vast majority of any sawdust is contained withiin the enclosed area or sucked up by the Shop Vac. I use this tool inside the house and sawdust is not an issue. We won't discuss the noise level but ear protection is required. I am very pleased with my purchase of the Kreg Bench Top Router Table and it has met my needs. At any point I can remove the Kreg Bench Router Table from off of the Workmate if needed.

Excellent and thorough review. That leveling part is really helpful as I am assembling this piece. Will watch it more than once so I'm glad you parsed it out. Have subscribed and will be looking forward to your posts. Thanks again.

I think you will really like it, though the assembly was a pain. There is a lot of cool stuff that having the table allows you to do.

Just bought a used Kreg benchtop table off Facebook Marketplace, and I have never used a router table. Your video was excellent for how to set this up correctly and how to use it effectively and safely! Thanks👏!

I really love it, I think you will like it. The only design improvement it could us is a cabinet under the table to use for dust collection, but most bench top tables just don't have them, and the cost would go up a lot. I still need to get around to making one, and if you do find yourself with dust under the table when cutting grooves, that may help.

Hey thanks for the nice review, I own this table and really like it combined with my DeWalt 618. I saw in another comment that you have the router lift on it now, I was this thinking of this too. Any consideration to review the lift?

  • @MMWoodworking

Thank you. I have a video about the installation of the lift, and there is a review in there as well. It's one of my older videos. I think it is just called "Kreg Router Table Lift Installation.". I love the lift. It's pricey, and I haven't used other expensive lifts, but my gosh is it convenient. It is really well made, and the ability to hit exact measurements, repeatably, is brilliant. Super smooth. It, and probably every lift, is a bit of a pain to take the router in and out of - I go over this part in the review video - so for those of us with only one router, just know going in that it will take a couple minute to get it in/get it out, whenever you need to use it for one or the other.

Really impressive review for this tool. I’m wanting every reason to buy this. I accidentally bought a few parts for my intended purpose in the last year or two. During the pandemic I got all gung ho and busy with shop ideas and projects. Including buying the Bosch router kit with all the widgets to get started. Too much in actual fact. I’m an electrician doing a handyman business that’s doing well. Wanting to expand my knowledge and expertise, I used the lockdown time pretty well, setting up a functional workshop in my garage. Lots of great tools were acquired along the way. Buying a router table was seen as too costly so I held off on that. My work being mostly electrical and mechanical jobs, with finish trim consisting of trim work was to evolve into routing some things perhaps. When I built a sliding drawer for tools in my van (older Odyssey) the fabrication of a large box, a drawer (side slides +200lb load bearing; rather expensive) and trimming it to be attractive (stealthy, black carpet and paint, I ventured into cabinet type stuff. Now I’m wanting to make the next plunge. Still haven’t even (opened, but not yet used) ventured into the costly router I spent too much on. I use my cordless Makita mini router frequently, next stop is exploring the real world of router functionality. Your video is nearly as perfect as I can imagine. I’m probably going to have it in my shop before this comment is even read by anyone or you. Thx.

Thanks, I appreciate it. It definitely is costly, but it's one of those additions that once you have it, you find yourself using it a lot more. You definitely bought a good router... I love the Bosch, and I think you will enjoy it. Best of luck on your work and projects!

@@MMWoodworking you surprised me. I haven’t finished the video. Keep pausing it. Just checked the plate (13:40 time) and see I have the same one. Something I was looking for an hour earlier, was the lift I bought. I thought, at least I think I had been under the impression, that this same life would accommodate my makita mini router. Not the case. As I was discovering, the Bosch kit, actually included this same lift. What I’m seeking (aside from this table) is a (jessup) lift or something that might work with a little cordless router. But my unit is cordless, so that’s an issue of another sort since it’s a small (pair) of buttons to turn on/off. Which are not very accessible. But I imagine, once I’m set up with the table and the larger router, I’ll never have need to use the baby one in such a situation. One day, this will be a laugh and a ‘Duh’ But I have to spend the money to get to that point lol 😝

@@MMWoodworking just pulled the trigger. Added feather boards and switch kit. Watching the assembly segment. Would thread lock be recommended? If you have addressed this in video, I’ll be aware shortly. But one of the tasks my handyman business includes as IKEA type assembly jobs. I’ve incorporated thread lock into many assemblies in an attempt to make sure the product might be more durable for the customers. I’ve learned on my own, I wouldn’t ever purchase these products. Most are junk and paying a few dollars more, and getting the same thing at a store is a far cheaper option. After assembling a 3 bed bunk bed kit, you he customer has a cute but (almost $1k, plus the $200 I had to charge, it took 5-6 hours, so I wasn’t really making much) this thing will be nearly impossible to ever have to move when that day arrives. The young girls will outgrow it inside 4-5yrs tops. I have my personal bet, it’ll last 2years before it’s falling apart. Even with the secured fasteners I spend more time with Last input for this exchange. Thx. 😊

Sure thing. I bought their full blown metal Kreg lift eventually and love it, but the lift alone costs more than the entire table. If you like the table size, want metal, and have the money... it's a good combo. You will likely either have to step up a price tier, if you want a solid table and metal plate, or buy a nice plate and build your own table. I am not sure if there are many options for benchtop table, metal plate, and also under $300. Best of luck!

Can you use a Milwaukee cordless trim router with this table?

  • @MMWoodworking

    @MMWoodworking

    4 ай бұрын

Maybe? The table itself comes with the plate that is essentially a blank slate to drill into. as long as your palm router has a base with holes to put screws through, you could probably line them up and connect it. That depends on the base entirely. You could also connect the trim base to a thin acrylic base, then screw that in. After taking a look... The Milwaukee router has a very, very small footprint base, so the base itself may be smaller than the opening hole, meaning you may need to connect to some acrylic first, to then screw into the plate. The one thing I can't say is how far out your bit will stick if you are going through an acrylic plate, and below the table plate. That's a total unknown. I wish I could help more.

This pains me to say because I had to say this about a Ryobi product a few weeks ago, but this router table is hot garbage! I bought this table for $124 at Lowes - on sale from $250. I thought I hit the jackpot. What I realize now is that Lowes couldn't give this thing away unless some shcmuck - me - bought it. Well, I'm not a schumk but I am green at wood working and the important lesson I learned today? Steer clear of Kreg products. The clamps to fasten down the fence? Garbage. The instruction book is barely understandable. The packaging had most of the screws and parts in un-marked pouches so you had to almost guess which screw was called for in the instructions. The list goes on. I paid $124 for this item and in my opinion it was over priced by $100.

That’s a shame to hear that it wasn’t great. The clamps can be tightened significantly using the Phillips screw on them. Lock them down and then tighten them. You can get them extremely tight if you want. Then unlock them and the next time you go to lock the fence it will maintain that tightness.
