I think it's how simple Surtr talks. He barely if ever embellishes (except maybe when talking about Sinmara), it's all short and right to the point, but it doesn't lose its importance. He's one of the oldest beings in the nine realms. After eons, he probably doesn't see the point in dragging out speeches (a sharp contrast to Odin). He's honest, simple, and there's not a hint of deceit.
words cannot express how much I absolutely love the way they wrote Surtr. What an outstanding performance.

We spend only 15 mins with this essential character. For a game that is about Ragnarok, the whole Ragnarok part was extremely rushed and went too fast. So many key figures during Ragnarok in Norse mythology we only spend little time with and play a rather anticlimactic role. They should've gone for a trilogy as originally planned so the pacing would feel more natural and we would have gotten enough time to spend with these interesting characters. I get that they cannot show everthing on the forefront since this game is about Kratos and Atreus/Loki, but how the developers handled the End Times felt truly disappointing and left a rather sour taste in my mouth about the whole Norse arc.

This guy has been around since Creation. He's older than Odin, Zeus, even Chronos. Is that what makes his speech so calm and to the point? That he's already seen it all and doesn't care for elaboration any more? Or is it Sinmara's icy heart, as others said?

I love that Surtr is a fire giant, but his heart is icy cold from Sinmara. As a result, his personality is quiet, dispassionate (Except about his love) and reserved. He doesn't even seem all that bugged about dying or destroying Asgard. I'll bet that when we meet Sinmara, she will be, due to Surtr's molten heart, fiery, alive, filled with emotion and feeling and purpose. She'll be grieving and furious and absolutely destroyed that Surtr died without her, because her heart is made of this "Primordial Fire" that Surtr gave her. A perfect tragedy.

“There’s primordial fire in there” God damn everything this dude says commands your attention. The Greek and Norse pantheons seem worlds apart (no pun intended) yet the writers hint that their all connected by some greater truth. Surtur definitely makes a grand point when he states how he wouldn't sacrifice Sinmara for the greater good, anymore than Kratos would do the same thing, surrounding Atreus. It makes complete sense when you genuinely care about someone, whether they are your significant other, or your own children. There are definitely far too many people who wouldn't think twice about sacrificing someone else, for their own personal benefit.

Thor Ragnarok reference.
I love how much you can take in from this scene. Surtr doesn't want to join with Simara to form Ragnarok because it will kill her, he figures out a loophole for becoming Ragnarok without Simara herself since he has her heart, he has all those swords discarded all over his forge because he keeps failing to make a blade that can withstand containing his fire, all in all he knows he still needs to become Ragnarok to stop Odin once and for all, he tenaciously sticks to his plan to become Ragnarok without Simara seemingly stuck in an endless loop of insanity but then, he finds his solution, his salvation, in Kratos and his Blades of Chaos "Forged in the foulest pits of Hades". He was unwilling to sacrifice Simara but, he was plenty willing to sacrifice himself to kill & stop Odin once and for all.
Surtr switched up so quick until the dude saw the blade of chaos 💀
Kratos atreus rage was fuckin 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I could spend a lot of time around Surtr. Dude is calm and speaks plainly. It’d be a peaceful time.

Sad to say this is after one of the other characters who speak plainly is no longer around…
The Spark of the world looks so fucking magical and awesome man
Can we all just appreciate how badass the sequence at 13:08 is?

Oh dude an at the end they pose for their rap album cover. Its badass
My expectations: A giant blood thirsty lava monster. What I got: A caring guy who would much rather be a family man.
That's ending was wild as fuck
Rage of Sparta is just the GOW3 Kratos poping out

I definitely though the actor sounded like Jeff Bridges or a person who has seen much throughout their entire life.

I get a little David Harbour in there too.
in the like ten minutes we had with him he became an instant favorite
13:36 Badass!!!
I really like his voice, very soothing. And I was honestly not expecting him to be so pleasant.
"We are together. Got her heart. She's got mine." 0:55
The VA and whoever wrote the lines for surtr freakin killed. Surely this scene is a highlight of this game for me.
7:52 I wish i could express half the emotion Surtr did in those few seconds
There’s nothing that gets me more hyped up in a game than the L3 + R3 prompt during a cutscene QTE because it NEVER disappoints
I like the voice they chose for him
Surtr was ironically a pretty chill dude.
“Elaborate” I love how efficiently Kratos speaks
It is interesting how Ares was able to create a tool that Surtur himself couldn't.

One line of dialogue reveals a detail of the Blades that no one knew about, and no one is really sure what to do with besides starting Ragnarok, but is interesting nonetheless.
Atreus rage epic
out of a huge majority of characters in god of war, surtr actually seems to have it pretty good, he seems satisfied and contempt with everything, shows how much love can keep someone going
Idk why I love this part so much, but I just do
I feel like the moment Surtr decide to keep Sinmara away from Ragnarök was the moment the “prophecy” was going to be different
Surtr really said “not here” literally last second. Bro trolled Kratos
Absolutely loved this interpretation of surtr. The voice actor is incredible
I love how patient surtur is here
The actor nailed this performance! He's soft-spoken, but he speaks volumes with his performance!!!
So Atreus spartan rage is him transforming into a Beast
Anyone else notice sinmaras heart beat steadily increased when surtr suggests sinmara isn’t needed, and he will solely sacrifice himself for the greater good of the realms. It’s like she feels the impending doom for him coming
Man is the hottest thing in the 9 realms, but he's the chillest too
