The one-arm thing is to emulate hip hop dance crews, especially from Los Angeles, who often do that to cool down while dancing (they wear heavy, baggy clothes to exaggerate the groove) …or to show off their biceps. ;)

And for some reason, I’ve always NEVER found crazy K-pop fashion”weird” or anything. To me, it’s all fun. (But I kinda get annoyed and have to do my breathing exercises whenever someone describes it as stupid, or nonsensical or ugly).Especially half pant half skirt, half shorts half pant, ruffled shorts, over-ripped pants, one arm in sweater, or anything else. I love it cos I know how weird I am. And I can always count on K-pop fashion to bring all the weird looks out there.

I can never get over just how little clothes they give Kpop girls, you never realise how small the clothes are until you see it in person because on screen it looks okay, but in person wow I havent even seen Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, megan stallion, Beyonce etc wear clothes so little to perform on stage with, and Ive seen them all live

I just love the way you interpret the crazy stuff that goes on in K-pop and the lovely mess that we all love. If only people like my supposed brother would stop taking them as jokes and respect them or just leave them alone if they don’t like K-pop.

In Asia miniskirts are so normalized for everyday wear, that it's not seen as sexual as long as you're not seeing the girl's ass. Keep that in mind the next time you think a skirt is too short for the idol's age. YOU are the one from a culture that sexualizes every bit of exposed skin, not them.

I hate to admit it after you bashed it so hard, but I think the half on sweatshirt thing is kinda fun. I think my initial reaction was like yours: that's stupid and impractical. But after some time, it grew on me, there's something neat about the asymmetry. It is mostly just visually interesting though, I'm not sure about the practicality. Also i had never thought about the syllable emphasis on Solar's name. I think I've been pronouncing it mostly correct but it never occurred to me. Thanks for the pro tip.

Thank you so much! This series represents a convergence of interests for me, as I am also more than a little obsessed with fashion and personal style. I took over 100 unique "Business Goth" OOTD pics for Facebook in the past year and I genuinely waffled back and forth between whether to start a Ktube channel or an OOTD channel for KZread. I still may very well launch the latter someday down the line. I had to split this particular topic into a series because I simply had too many ideas to fit in a single video. I'm already going to have to make some choices about what gets included in episode #3 and what has to get pushed out to episode #4. 😭

One part trying to get this channel off the ground properly, one part being a little shy about potentially opening myself up to a lot of negative personal attacks on my appearance. It might happen anyway, though. It has been a big confidence booster to see this channel get off to a good start.

while frowned upon as a long time fan I know that kpop girls with large chests were often made to wear more low cut necklines and would go viral and get popular for having larger chests, it's less that smaller is preferred and more that its harder to find natural big chests in Korea like here in the west or Africa so small is just the norm but when a girl does have one they don't hide how much they want to see it unfortunately, men will be men.

Given that plastic surgery is the official national pastime of Korea, if larger breasts were favored, I think we'd see far more idols with noticeable breast enhancements. If you compare the beauty standards in China to those in Korea, you'll see a remarkable difference in how prominently Chinese women display their breasts relative to Korean women. It is difficult to imagine that large breasts are naturally more common in China than Korea.

its not something created in Kpop though, they copied African American hiphop dance scene, people dance in tracksuits often but it gets too sweaty so there was a common theme to get 1 arm out so you could release heat Kpop just copied it from them as they do everything even when it makes no sense in kpop

The leaving one arm out of a sweatshirt thing is from dancers culture especially hiphop, its like leaving one feet out of blanket if its get hot. I noticed many dancers (not only kpop) wear sweaters or hoodie for dance practice and they tuck one arm out if its get hot and humid in the dance room. The one who did usually only wear tank top under, so they tuck one arm out bc its hot but they dont want to feel as 'exposed' as taking the hoodie off. Some dancers also use it as a style bc it looks cool and effortless (it looks like youre THAT good at dance so its all look easy, even life looks easy to you if thats makes sense). I kinda get it when they use it in dance practice videos like rose but idk why stylist using it as a 'serious' outfits for an mv lol

Omg thank you finally someone who actually knows I think alot of kpop fans dont seem to know much about different genres (its okay) but they should assume beforehand nothing in Kpop is unique 9/10 times its taken from African American culture In the Hiphop scene the 1 arm sweatshirt trend is natural instinct to release heat and like you said it looks like your half bothered, clothes looks messy, makes you look almost unbothered and naturally good when you dance, I can compare it to fixing your face mic and still hitting your notes kind of unbothered talent easy

5:26- I don’t know if it’s the same for Girl groups but the hoodie situation for most boy groups is to help conceal perky nipples and or skin that may look unflattering for the choreography. Also well not a common case some stylists will do it with a designer hoodie so they could use a cheaper shirt and or a shirt from a brand they can’t show for the styling

I remember for a good while, there was a phase where the idols wore other accessories as part of their outfits (think back to the matching backpacks seen in omg by newjeans or even those animal hats with the various ears on it) although very cute in theory, its probably not the most practical of clothing options performance wise Another part of kpop styling which i find to be a factor that no other styling industry tends to like doing (and definitely one of the more risque ones ill admit) is gathering ridiculous short shorts onto the safety shorts that is brought for kpop idols in case of accidentally flashing someone on stage. And honestly i want this trend to be gone immediately, like how is korea still present itself as a modest industry yet have this, it seriously baffles me 😭😭😭
