I would say he's the best I've seen. I care not for insane shreds and licks since distortion simplifies things anyways. And yes I'm speaking from playing experience. I've had a much harder time doing acoustics than electrics and being able to express exactly what you want to express like him is pretty much something that's hard to do since he doesn't use reverb much. In terms of play style he's definitely one of the best out there. And no I still listen to Vai mostly. It's just an opinion
