Look how many people (vocalist of highly popular bands) tried to cover Would by AIC after Laynes passing,,,! I say tried... bc none of them did very well...lol even thought I like them , and I'm not HATING on anyone... Just no one can really cover Layne Staley! IMO Corey Taylor from slipknot did the best!

Sounded very clean, to the point, everyone stayed in rhythm, and even though they were all dancing and moving around having the time of their lives on stage, yet they're all staying on tune and on note with each other. It's funny thinking back, all the covers were great, and the planning we had to do to watch it made it all worth it. I recall this was very shortly after Jason left the band. I remember thinking he should have been there too, along with Dave. God bless Cliff.

To me it cuts out some of the long drawn out parts of a long song and condenses it to a shorter but better version. If you like Metallica version then listen to it. Nobody said you cant

    That's dope AF. Love it when artists pay respect to those who went before them, especially Korn paying tribute to Metallica like that. Things always come full circle. Metallica were the undisputed reigning champs of crushing cover tunes and turning them into monsters of their own. Diamondhead admitted once that in no small way owe their continuity as a group to the massive success of Metallica's covers of their material.

    LYRICS: I can't remember anything Can't tell if this is true or dream Deep down inside I feel to scream This terrible silence stops me Now that the war is through with me I'm waking up, I cannot see That there's not much left of me Nothing is real but pain now Hold my breath as I wish for death Oh, please God, wake me Back in the womb, it's much too real In pumps life that I must feel But can't look forward to reveal Look to the time when I'll live Fed through the tube that sticks in me Just like a wartime novelty Tied to machines that make me be Cut this life off from me Hold my breath as I wish for death Oh, please God, wake me Now the world is gone, I'm just one Oh, God, help me Hold my breath as I wish for death Oh, please God, help me Darkness imprisoning me All that I see, absolute horror I cannot live, I cannot die Trapped in myself Body, my holding cell Landmine has taken my sight Taken my speech, taken my hearing Taken my arms, taken my legs, taken my soul Left me with life in hell

    I've been starting to get a lot into Korn recently, I'm absolutely loving them. SOAD got me into metal, Metallica into guitar and Korn is just fucking insane. I don't wanna be a bullshitter saying "i was born in the wrong generation" but i really cannot help but wonder what it must have been like to be a teen in the 80's - 90's and listening to the heaviest stuff at the time. Nu Metal really is my favorite subgenre of metal, I finally understand why I hear that Korn are the best.

  • @judsonsnell

    @judsonsnell

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think every generation can say that. Metal has been evolving since Gustav Holst and Wilhelm Wagner were getting in trouble for using tritones in their orchestral compositions. And yes, the 80's really "defined" a lot of tropes for metal going forward - but bands have continued to really challenge convention ever since. From the past 40 years, Metallica's "Master of Puppets" and "And Justice For All" are monoliths. For my money, Helmet and Deftones are still absolute standouts - even if there are people who would say they don't pass some arbitrary metal "sniff test".

    Timmy Fowler you can definitely get that tone with your normal roundwounds or even tapewounds. along with slapping really hard on the pops, he cranks the treble and cuts the bass.

    This is the best cover Korn has ever done! JD’s vocals fitted perfectly for this, David’s drumming is better than Lars’ drumming, Head and Munky are masters of guitars, Fieldy was really slapping the bass harder than my dad with the belt. 10/10 cover
