    Single leg rod eyes have been around for a long time. Obviously with less metal they help make the rod lighter. But the theory behind them is that in the rod section which bends most they will allow the blank to work more naturally than the “ bridge” of metal and two whipping points more normally used in older roads. In other words they maximise the rods action, minimise weight. The slight flex in that single leg is a good thing, softening impact of the line playing a fish and doesn’t deter casting of mean that the eyes themselves are weak, just more forgiving. I have several rods with single leg eyes with which I have no issue. That doesn’t mean to say, especially with the thinner diameter of the carbon, you don’t have to look after them in transit. A shame you didn’t show them in action or comment on casting performance set against the budget rods…maybe you can address that because that’s what people want to know in a quality review. Less about what they look like, more about how they perform.

    Mate honestly you can get the same spec and performance in the ‘Sonik Herox’ for half the price.

    I use Daiwa D Carp rods to which i brought cheap new for less then £30 each. One is a 3lb model and my second rod is a 3.5lb model as I only use up to 2 rods. Now I have owned these since 2019 and boy they sure have been used alot. I have caught 100s of carp and cats on them Cats up to 50lb and carp up 28lb and man do they bend yes they sure do but they still feel great playing carp. I can get them a good distance to with a 3oz lead. Next year I may replace them as they will be over 5 years old but i am unsure just yet. These look cool but way way over priced like all the korda range

    I used to have a Fox Warrior ( the very first one), and I have used it for years. I think they were like £50 each. After that, I bought the 50mm but ring version of it, used a few years, and then I bought the nash x350, which is a little bit a step up used I'd for 2 years and then I got this korda Kaizens. To be honest, not the rod gonna catch you the fish, but you. Of course, the gear can help you in certain situations, but most of the time, it is all up to you to find the fish and put your hookbait in the right spot!! Good casting can be achieved with lots of work and practice 💪. What rod you thinking to get? 🤔

    99% of custom rod builders use single leg guides on the tip section of the rod for a crisper lighter action. I have single leg minima vortex guides and they are very strong and have done me proud for a number of seasons.

    Thanks for watching my videos 😉 sorry for the late response 😅 The rods that I've got are 3.5Lb they are very good for casting solid short range or long distance aswell. I've been casting solid bags over 23 wraps (tbh not many lakes that you have to cast over 20wraps or you are allowed to use bait boats) without any problem. But ofc you gonna have to tie a nice solidbags to cast them far. And also you might have to consider a tapered mainline if you are planning to go very far. I hope this was helpful🤗 If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me 😉 Either way let me know what you decide.

    @leviscarpfishing yes I know guy who does rep work for daiwa! Also tackle shop told me the kaizen are longbow blanks! All start 13ft and are cut back! So you are paying alot more for the little korda bits ain't you!! I'd have just gone daiwa infinity x45 or harrison for that money! I do like korda brand myself though specially there luggage and terminal tackle is all korda

    Daiwa longbows, but now Kodra can make a lot of money from them because their name is on it. Must be a nice contract with Daiwa.

    Exactly where’s the performance comparison. People pay extra for casting performance, which is what being light and thin is all about…..but not a mention about that, a very strange review with too much time talking of looks and the rod bag, not what really matters?

  • @leviscarpfishing

    @jamesrussel1133 I'm not sure if you watched it completely... as I mentioned not one time how light weight is the rod and I also checked the weight of each section.

  • @jamesrussel1133

    @jamesrussel1133

    @@leviscarpfishing That would be blindingly obvious, the weight, just picking the rods up without the overly time consuming weighing here, manufacturers stuff may even give the weights. Frankly that has nothing to do with actual field testing and proper appraisal at all. I have built my own carp rods since the 1970. If this “ review “ was based on real knowledge there wouldn’t have been all the wrong emphasis on the single leg eyes. Now you have poked me with a stick it’s an at best amateur review by someone who knows next to nothing about rods. Weight is not as important as rod balance and that has a lot to do with the reel it is matched with too. Back in the day we would plug rod butts with lead, making the whole rod a lot heavier, but with heavier materials used in blanks and rod eyes then that would bring the balance point of rod and reel closer to where you held it, rather than the rod feeling tip heavy to hold. So whilst being heavier overall a rod would feel lighter in the hand at the “ fulcrum” of pivot, the centre of gravity of rod and reel combined. Old school carpers who built their own rods, because you had to from blanks back in the day, will understand. But here what I say will largely fall on deaf ears. The slim, strong, light eyes will both zip through the air and minimise frictional line contact for the purpose of casting but the best rods, in the lightest material, inevitably cost more. And a top rod isn’t just about speed of tip recovery, which was briefly mentioned, it’s about cross woven carbon for anti twist purposes and accuracy, the thinnest and lightest of profile to accelerate through the air faster with less air resistance. And it’s here where your cost and performance comes in. Arguably a lot of those extra features to enable top casting performance aren’t needed if you fish smaller waters where you aren’t casting far, or even bigger ones where baits are lowered from boats, big and small. Playing action, sometimes power to turn fish from snags, but often more forgiving progressive action rod tips can then come into their own to prevent hook pulls and enhance playing pleasure. For my own casting rods, a quality reel with the smoothest of carbon clutches is vital to cushion lunges under the rod tip. It’s the package of balanced rods and reels matched properly which really matters, looking at just one part of the ensemble is only half the story and a bit naive. You won’t get nearly the full benefit from a top quality casting rod without the high end lightweight reel to match…period.

    @@jamesrussel1133 how long you been waiting to write all that , if this review was done by spooner or DF himself I’d understand you points , he is a angler who purchased the rods and is giving his review , go and buy some and do your own review but by the length of your comment it would be 8hrs long.
