This definitely needs to be a series. Ideally one episode per day please, even if it's just for couple of mins popping down for a brew and seeing if any fish showing. Need to do some decking with scaffolding pole support for planks. And a little bench with shelter

Living the dream now 👍. As for cheap bait, find a local farm or equine store and pick up (20kg sacks) of Copdock crushed hemp £45, micronised maize £12, pigeon mix £20, brown crumb £20, barley ££12 and a 5l jack of molasses £7.50. Oh and a few plastic dustbins to keep it rat & mouse free. Soak the barley in a bucket (loads of KZread tutorials) before adding and you have loosefeed that costs a smidge over £1 per kilo and will pull in pretty much anything silver that swims plus pike to chase the silvers. It’s a glorified spod mix that can be jazzed up with fun stuff like betaine powder or liver powder (go to health shops not tackle shops) as extra attractant.

Nice garden peg! I've always wanted a garden with my own fishing rights at the bottom of it.... If it were me, I'd look at clearing that ground level bush to the left of the peg. I'd definitely lift that end concrete block that's sinking and putting a double wide jetty in there for fishing with friends. Definitely sort the groundwork out to get on to the jetty. I'd then clear the bank down to the fence and level it and re-turf it. Then I'd look at some planting along that stretch, put in a small reed bank at the end of your peg (maybe plant some sedge) just to define the end border and also provide breeding ground for above water insects and underwater insects. It will also provide cover for smaller bait fish and hopefully act as a structure attractant for predatory fish also. You could maybe build a sheltered area on to a fence so you can sit underneath it if you just want to chill. Perhaps you could run some power down there and string some lights up for relaxed nights with a BBQ? You could also look at putting in a small automatic fish feeder, there are versions that are solar powered, that way you can bait the water up without having to actually be there and do it yourself if you need to go away and film more stuff? Such as the one in this link? You can set the duration of feed and distance of feed also. ( www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0858ZB3J3?tag=track-ect-uk-67656-21&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1&ascsubtag=ecSEPwqjlpwlf6288vr ) I'd look at also planting some native water flowers such as Iris (they'll also give you some prettiness for B roll shots for your vids?) to encourage other insects in. I'd also plant some water lily along that edge too as this will give frogs somewhere to hide and breed and also hopefully bring in Perch and Pike that will use them as food source. Mix in some oxygenator plants too so that the water quality improves and draws the fish in more as there is more oxygen in that part of the water, your local aquatic centre will be able to help you a bit more on this (I believe Carl may know somebody that can help? :D ) Trim some of the overhanging trees too so that you can get a good cast arc going on. Ultimately you're looking at balancing access and usage with biodiversity and boosting species, if you can give the eco-system a boost on the micro level, you'll increase the health of that stretch of water on a macro level. Contact your local waterways agency or canal association and liaise with them as to what can be done. There may also be a local group that could advise you on what you can and cannot do. ALWAYS plant native species when it comes to reeds/lillies/plant etc, the LAST thing you want to do is introduce a non-native potentially invasive species that will out compete everything else and not help native wildlife. They may also be able to help you rake and clear the swim a bit better. Can't wait to see how this develops out!

So happy for you Tom. I'd wait to remove all the bushes though. They offer repair to bait fish and it will attract pikes on the good season. I think that the best thing you can do in that stretch is try and build an environment that can attract bait fish and pikes. I would take into consideration - if you can - to plant some water lilies or any other kind of water plant in which pikes can ambush their preys.

Anything left over from breakfast or dinner can be used to feed up the area. Sweet corn bread crumb corn flakes . big bags of hemp seed (unboiled an no name) aren't that expensive but you would need to boil them up yourself. Maize is pretty cheap you can feed pretty much anything really.

What you might find is that your stretch doesn't have a lot of fish in it. I have 2 mile stretch of canal outside my house, it was electro fished last week to remove any Zander. They removed 5 of them. There were very few silver fish, a few perch and a few pike. If the swans get used to the feed it will be hard to get rid of them, I have around 30 ducks, numerous Canada geese and swans from time to time as people stop outside my house to feed them. Good luck.

Siiiiiick. Literally the dream. Either live on a boat or habe a house next to a canal or river. Buzzin for you bro. I'd definitely enquire into that stretch of canal. That way you could control the stocking, and put what you want in. Water quality looks really bad, if there's any fish in there I don't think there will be many, but I do bloody hope I'm wrong on that part. Id defo build a little platform for yourself. Maybe break down the concrete into smaller pieces and remove it entirely and build your own platform. You said about removing a Bush, I'd do as little as that as possible, as overhanging bushes provide the perfect cover and a food source for any fish. As for bait, just go on Google loads of places you can buy huge sacks of pellets, some pet/farm shops do them too. Just find one local to you to support a local business and that way you can pick it up or get cheaper delivery eith it being closer. Ohhhh, and defo make it a series. Looking forward to part 2 already.

Congrats on the new house mega spot at the back of the garden even just to unwind on a busy day, As for bait Ild say cheapest options would be sacks of dry hemp or even Pigeon conditioner and corn being bits would clear an area in no time! And then Sean can practice for the pike and you could teach him on how too set the hook?/? Now that would make a good series

Long term you could smash up the concrete blocks, buy a bit of scaffolding and make a small platform to fish from? You could retain some shrubs around and under the platform. It would create a shelter for small fish to hide in... If they are any pike in that stretch, maybe it would attract them?
