Kookaburras Laughing Call
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
The Call of the Kookaburra has captured the imagination of film directors and movie producers since the early days of cinema. It was used in many of the early Tarzan movies and is in countless jungle films. Most people have heard it as background sound in jungle films but probably thought the sound was from monkeys. The sound of the Kookaburras calling has also been popular in alarm clocks or as a phone ringtone. When people see Kookaburras calling it usually brings a smile to their face and often laughter. They just look so funny! Save this video to cheer you up on a rainy day when you are feeling glum😊

👍 #29 Hello my good friend, the Kookaburra must have one of the best calls in all of nature! As your description says, my first memories of hearing their calls, was on old films, such as Tarzan, which I loved as a child. I'm not sure I would want their call as a ringtone or alarm tho' lol. Really well filmed my friend and a great watch and listen, thank you. 👍◕‿◕

Thank you Jane! Why would you not add the call for your alarm clock? Are you worried that it might make you laugh when you wake up and spoil the mood of the serious business of getting ready for work😐

@@wildhomevideos If the laughing Kooaburras were my alarm clock, it would frighten the life out of me, from being asleep to siddenly hearing them guys lol! It would be funny as a phone text signal though. I can imagine walking around a supermarket as we are 'food shopping' and in a big Queue to pay ... then the kookaburras set off.... it would make others jump but it would be very funny too! 👍◕‿◕

Thanks Rocky. Busy weekend! Yea if you lower the volume, add other birds chirping, add a main character like Tarzan or someone hacking away with a machete to focus on, the sound lends itself perfectly for the ambiance of a luscious overgrown hot jungle. I am sure you have heard it many times without realising in some of the movies you watched as a kid. Some of this footage is old and we used it on a short we published some time ago. It didn't do much at the time but for some reason it started picking up recently so we thought maybe we should put this together and link the two.
WoW! Amazing sounds! The birds are so cute too! Really enjoyed watching them!😊😊😊

Thank you for writing Maria. We would like to make another Raven video but our Ravens are not about. We have had an exceptionally dry year. The rains have only just properly started. A lot of the birds which lived on our property left to places where food was more abundant. Our Raven couple have migrated to a neighbours paddock who was feeding his sheep regularly by spreading oats on the ground so the Ravens cleaned up the leftovers. Now that our paddocks are green and they can forage for worms after the rain we see the Ravens again but not all the time like we used to. It will take couple of months for the insect population to build up and then the birds will come back. And hopefully the Ravens will also grant us the pleasure of their company 😊

It didn't really do much but just recently the views started going up on it so we thought we might as well link it up with a new video and see what happens. Besides it's fun to edit these guys. We always get a laugh out of them😁

Thanks guys. We tried using "Audio Enhance" setting after going as far as we can with the equiliser. Mixed results. There tends to be an onrush of sound at the beginning of each sound clip that levels off quickly. But for some reason if you cut that part off it just happens again at the new beginning. Annoying😏 There must be a way around that🤔

Thank you for your lovely comment. We have finally had another rain event. The grass is starting to grow and it is starting to look like winter. A lot of the birds left some months ago, probably due to lack of food and now they are just starting to come back. We now have just enough drinking water in our rainwater tanks to last us for a year. Normally the tanks are overflowing by this time. The ponds are still mostly empty and unless we get a significant amount more rainfall in the next few months we will have to cut down on our vegetable garden. This is not a disaster as we can buy all the fruit and vegetables we need, but we prefer to grow our own food. This has been the driest year we can remember and there is only a couple of the hardiest orchids growing in our bush. We have had dry years before so this is not something new and we are well prepared to deal with it. But we do love those wet years when the bush is covered with wildflowers and all the birds an animals are happy 😊

@@wildhomevideos Thank you for writing back. I am sorry for your area really. I checked your place on Google maps and found that you sure can’t have much of ground water. You have to have rain and store it for sure. It seems this year has been awful for lack of rain in at least 3 continents. It is just awful for people and nature. I really sympathize with you concerning these over dry conditions you have to live with this year. There seems to be a river next to your station: does the water flow and could you use a little of it somehow? I wish you a real improvement of the weather conditions at least. And luck 🍀 for sure! A lot of it,
@wildhomevideos

@@Nature_Watching_Japan Our land is only 160 acres with approximately 40 acres of that designated as a private voluntary nature sanctuary. That's where the orchids grow. Stations are much much larger, like a million acres or more. We are 90 km east of Perth and there are no stations around here, only farms. The river you might see is the Avon river which it is not very close to us and it is not legal to take water out of a river without a special license. But even so, the water is too salty during the dry months. Most people only think of ground water coming from large Aquifers but in our area there are different underground water sources. Although that is not accurate you can think of them as large gaps in underground rock where water is trapped during the rainy season. These can be very small or quite large and are difficult to find. We have two bores which tap into a source like that near our house and vegetable garden. They produce roughly 5000 litres per day each, but are slightly salty so it is best not to use them for watering the plants for extended periods as the salt builds up in the soil. I explain that so that you understand that we are not in any trouble. We are well prepared to live here very comfortably and probably by many standards in luxury. It is just inconvenience more than anything else. You know, like on a hot day you wish it would be cooler, or if it rains all week you wish it were sunshine😅 For the animals it is a little harder but they are adapted to this harsh environment and have evolved in a way to cope.

@@wildhomevideos Thank you indeed for making things clear. I am relieved that you can get ground water, but indeed it is not for watering plants or vegetables. I realize that you have a great life where you are, such as few of us could have but I’m sure you work hard to make something out of your property. It is really great. I had no idea the soil could release salt in the river but it makes sense. Still the law and conditions being what they are I have to hope that you get enough rain water. I thank you for everything you show us. I loved Australia each time I traveled there and it’s wonderful to watch its nature through you. Thank you very much indeed. Let’s be hopeful for the rest of your winter. 😊😊🙏🙏‼️ .
