Konyak tribe House Tour and Food

#keralatonortheast
Here we are at one of the 400-year-old houses of the Konyak tribe in the Longwa village.
Longwa village is one of the largest villages of the Konyak tribes,in the Mon district which is situated in the northern part of Nagaland also known as ' The Land of Anghs'. The Angh belongs to Konyak tribe and he is the hereditary ruler or the chief of Konyak Village. He has 60 wives and he runs more than 60 villages of the Konyak tribe stretching as far as Myanmar and Arunachal Pradesh. The konyaks are one of the major ethnic Naga tribes. The most highlighted thing about this place is that the 'Angh house' is half-way through India, half-way through Myanmar. Even if the village is in two countries, the whole village is under the leadership of the chief(Angh). The natural beauty of this village is outstanding because a total of four rivers cross the village, two in India and two in Myanmar. As shown in the video, you can see in Longwa many of the villagers wear brass skull necklaces which symbolise this heritage. Interestingly, a lot of the locals are also enrolled in the Myanmar army as the residents of the village enjoy dual citizenship and can roam freely in both countries.Longwa village is also one of the international trade centres set up by the Indian government.
Food :
They served us Naga's special tribal food. It was a dish made of bamboo shoot and smoked beef along with their special Naga sticky rice, cooked bamboo sprouts and some potato curry.
Villager's :
One of the locals accompanied us, he treated me and amma with atmost respect. He explained us everything about their rich history through the stories of their great ancestors and the traditions that they follow even today. The people are very hardworking, straight forward and warm-hearted. Their hospitality is just awesome.
