He didn't call for back up from the other apes they came because they were scared they didn't want scar king to get hurt and then be angry because they just sat there. Scar King would have defeated Kong if he kept fighting their skill levels were completely different, however he felt disrespected and wasn't going to let it slide and chose to use Shimo which in the long run was a bad move

I like how Skar fought like he knew Capoeira lmao; almost dance-like moves of agility with his cartwheels, flips, and evasive methods. Very cool and unique style when mixed with a whip weapon.

Skar fighting Kong is probably my favorite fight because of one thing, Skar holds back at the start. He isn’t trying to beat Kong at first, he is simply seeing how strong Kong is. He laughed at his metal tooth and openly taunted Kong by laughing, until the moment Skar saw he was losing. Him summoning Shimo is basically his way of saying “I won this fight before it started”. With Intelligence comes arrogance.

I know a lot of people say that Skar King proved himself to be weaker here at the end. I on the other hand see it much differently. To be specific, Him immediately calling upon Shimo upon being thrown over following Kong's other feats in the fight is a sign that Skar King recognises him as an actual threat that should be immediately dealt with. Simply the best way to accomplish that is his greatest weapon. However the animators make it very clear that he takes sadistic enjoyment in ending Kong, extinguishing his flicker of hope in a matter of saying.

Long range vs. close combat. Kong definitely has the advantage when it comes to fighting up close. But since he has no long range attacks like Godzilla he has to rely on his agility and the axe to help fight opponents with long range attacks.

The movie would've ended way quicker if Kong just threw Scar King into that lava fall behind him at 1:26

Put the Kong glazing aside, Skar king was definitely winning this fight. I don’t understand why they had to bring shimo in so early, just have Skar win and Kong run off. Make him a true menace with and without Shimo

I'm listening the the novelization's audiobook on audible. In the book it's revealed Kong would've killed Skar King if it wasn't for Shimo's intervention. This happens near the end of chapter 12. Here is the exact quote: “Kong wasted no time. He grabbed the red ape again, picked him back up and threw him on his face. Red ape rolled back up, but Kong saw he was hurt. Other apes behind him started forward to help him, but the red ape gestured for them to stop. He stood back, not continuing the attack. Some of the other apes started pounding the floor again. This time Kong thought it was for him. He pounded his chest and roared his dominance. Red ape was fast and tricky surprising. But kong understood him now. If the fight resumed, he would kill the other titan. Red Ape knew that."

Yeah somehow that doesn’t seem to be the case when he was clearly pinned and mothra intervened in the movie I’ll take what I saw on the big screen, skar king pieced him up and made him run. Skar takes the dub Cope harder

I've been trying to find the ost for this battle. It makes the scene sound and feel so tense and serious, I'm pretty sure it's yet to be released, hopefully they release it soon

Skar King's choice of weapon is actually good, he knows he will probably get bodied in close quarter combat so he always used a long range melee has his weapon, a good combination with it is his agility making him constantly damage opponents whilst dogding Sadly however, if that specific opponent somehow gets near him, he is pretty much doomed, while what we saw in fight fight, Skat King got to cocky leading him to getting a counter hit by Kong, knocking his body in the process
