    Water on a job like this isn't a good idea. I have the ability to add water on this pot but every internal corner I get slurry all over me and the visor then at the end of the job it needs washing down to get the slurry off and it takes a very long time to get it all off plus the chemical that's needed to add to the water isn't cheap all this makes it not worth using 👍💞

    What is the discoloration left in spots after you have blasted? Those dark spots? Isn't that corrosion of some sort that is embedded deeper into the metal? I'm just wondering if a courser media should be used to go deeper into the metal to take that out?

  • @Mobileblaster

    @Mobileblaster

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes your right you could spend extra money and time on a slightly heavier grit then run the risk of damage to other stuff that dony need the grit in or on. At the start I explain what this company was after and all they want from me is to make the serface free from loose materials and etched for paint. They don't require me to get SA3 standards. I could do it but then the costs would make this job not feasible. This serface is totally fine to paint over as this was over 12 months ago and that's the warranty period without any issues. If a good primer is used it will eat into any remaining blooms on the metal and neutralise it.

    @@PaulGreenwald If im honest I've used sand too and not used a better media it cuts fast removes heavy scale and its cheap 😊 yeah I filter the compressed air so it's grade C air I make sure the wind from the compressor is blowing away from the intake as to reduce the chances of co2 getting into the air. It's poor air I'm breathing in I should have listened at school maybe I would have had a better job by now haha

    @@Mobileblaster Nice reply ' I always felt the danger of breathing air/oil mixed compressed air was a risk ,so i bought a mains powered air pump for my helmet , worked fantastic but obviously needed mains . I was lucky enough to inheret land so i am a farmer now , still kept all the kit though . Good money in blasting now due to all regulations a lot of people got out .

    @@PaulGreenwald @Paul Batchelor yeah eva mains or 12v would be ideal I did buy a 12v air pump and filter but it hammers batteries don't last a shift i was going to rig it to work off the compressor battery but nether got round to it. I would love some land it would make my life easier 😁 Its always handy having a blaster on hand ya nether know what ya want to clean up next 😊 I don't know about good money I make a modest living but I put the hours in to make it work. If I turned these hours into minimum wage I would be well below it. Not a lot of people could do the job putting a bucket over ya head for 8 hours aday getting covered in all sorts of crap and breathing 2nd grade air all day haha the unglamorous truth haha

    Why not spray the fresh medal with the solution that gives you 24-48 hours to paint before the metal rusts?

    I can add inhibitors to water and then add this to the stream but then I have a slurry to remove from the steel also soon as I hit an internal corner it blows back and covers me and the visor in slurry 😵 I wouldn't know what to add to the media to do this dry to give a little protection doing it dry?

    @@Mobileblaster Thanks for the reply. I was going on a past memory. I looked up the information and yes it was an inhibitor(Holdtight 102) added to water, not dry blasting media. My mistake. You were dry blasting. It was the wrong application on my part. Cool that you caught that. Thanks for the videos.

    @@3000gtalex You don't need to spray anything on the metal after dry blasting all thats required is keep it dry if you plan on painting the next day and put it in dry storage over night it won't flash rust anyways. This saves money I was explaining that you need to wash the media off with a solution after wet blasting as wet blasting would reduce the dust but also increases the costs and complexity of the job 👍💞

    Did we really need to see the sandblast in real time? What we need to see is the prep work bf painting and what was used to combat future rust. This would have made this video 100% more useful and much shorter in length!

    Please let me explain :) Ive done a lot of work for this company and they know what to expect the job sheet was hit as much area as possible the notes was its going back out on hire and just needs to look good as it roles off the low loader. Area was more important then digging the rust out this was a lot of area in the time that was allocated and only real way to save on time was to give a light blast still perfect for paint and a lot better than rubbing it down by hand in the same time frame :) the customer knows what to expect for his money all this is explained before hand plus its a repeat customer for the past 10 year or so. I know what to deliver and in the time frame he asks for. I can certainly strip every part and blast it to a inch of its lift and rebuild with brand new pipes etc but the man hours and costs involved would out price this unit. knowing what to deliver at what costs is key in this business. Thanks for your feedback.

    Your entitled to your opinion but my customer was more than happy. If you watch all the video I explain this. As all he wanted was the scabs knocking back no steel profiling just run over it. If you new what the customer had planned for this loading shovel you would say its too good so please refer to slating someone's work like this before knowing the outcome and all the factors involved. Yes I could have spent a full day on the bucket alone and made it 100% split mint but the price wasn't in the job to do this. Hope this clears things up 👍 Regards Mick

    Just watched the video again what bit is poorly executed? Could you time stamp it please and I will explain what was going off or what was required because if I could get workers to do this amount of work in time allocated I would be quids in 😂👍some areas I have to leave due to knowing what will happen if I keep at a certain area or like the bucket the 1st time it's used will pull the paint off anyways so pointless wasting time effort or gear when I could spend the time doing something that would be more beneficial to the customer 👍
