As someone who was born and brought up in Bengaluru, one thing I feel that is quite missing in RCB is a certain identity which resonates with the locals(in the case of Bengaluru, it'd be the Kannada language). Something which Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai focused on from the first season by having their players speak and make ads in Tamil, Bengali and Marathi respectively. It's only after Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers arrived did they even think of having them converse in Kannada. It might seem small but that does change how the fans end up viewing the game especially in India. I tuned out of IPL over a decade ago when the whole idea of IPL felt less about developing/giving local players a platform to grow and more about revenue. Your comment on lack of investment in developing domestic and local players hits the nail on the head. Also, the owner of RCB owes a lot of banks money and a good chunk of uncertainty financially does trickle down on the team. Sometimes the KZread algorithm does wonders and I do hope your channel grows more.

Exaclty. Karnataka team had unprecedented success in 2013-15 domestic cricket, but RCB had only 1 or 2 Karnataka players in their whole squad. It was like they were deliberately not picking Karnataka players, which did not resonate well with many Kannadigas.

Tbh RCB is not the most under achieved in ipl . It's Punjab kings but people only talk about RCB as it has the world favourite Virat kohli . If RCB didn't had kohli it would've been like another Delhi or Punjab that nobody talks about much

No. Back in 2010 RCB when Kallis ,dravid ,Dale Steyn ,utappa and many more were playing they were one of the popular teams. They passed the batton to Kohli ,Gayle ,ADB. And now it is Kohli , Maxwell and Duplessis. It was always one of the popular teams. People of Karnataka love RCB to the core

It's not just about Virat they've had the best players like Dravid, Kallis, Gayle, ABD, Watson, Rahul, Starc etc and still haven't been able to win a trophy with such greats of the game. On the other hand Punjab or Delhi have never had such teams which you would fear on paper. That's why RCB is more talked about as they really have the potential to win it but haven't been able to perform upto it.

Having Kohli and other big players in RCB is exactly the reason why RCB is considered to be the most underachieving team because on paper this team should have already won atleast 2-3 times but nope not even 1

Not the most under achieving franchise because there are teams like DC and PBKS who have even lesser knockout qualification and final appearances. RCB have 3ipl finals + 1 champions league finals appearance and 8 playoffs qualification.

imo a major reason the ipl trophy has eluded RCB is their core leadership group ( including virat kohli ). There have seasons when they have had the best team on paper but the fact that their leadership is very indecisive and impulsive and just aren't ready to give a lot of players the backing they need to succeed is why they have underachieved. Now Contrast this with CSK when at the beginning of the season they have looked like the weakest team on paper ( especially 2018 ) but regardless of who the player is the csk management ( dhoni, fleming and co. ) have given a lot of backing despite the player not performing well. Same applies to MI.
