From personal experience of raising an autistic child the difficulties are sometimes overwhelming. Iv heard people tell me that I have one of those children that only a mother can love and be patient with. The sensory issues alone can be scary to people. Now my son is a young adult and has reached amazing heights with communication skills. They don’t see the trials. This took years of working through. If people only knew the patience and hours a parent has to work with that autistic child to overcome so many obstacles they would be exhausted by it. So my congratulations are also to the parents and his siblings who dedicated, many times sacrificed, so many years so Kodi so he can be who he is meant to be. Congratulations to the Lee family!

Laura Schneer I totally understand actually I have two teens both intellectual more advanced but behavioral disorders and epilepsy and austim I totally understand it’s amazing how many of us believe in our kids like this young man. My boy jaxson he never rock climbed in his life or repelled and was incredible I would’ve been so scared but he did it and I tell my kids you may have more challenges but you can do anything.

I really like how his mom told us what she and and the family had to do in order to get Kodi's autism under control. That's very interesting to me, because I'm somewhat autistic myself; and my family members don't really have patience with me.

I don’t have much experience with people who have autism, but I’ve always heard it can be hard for some of them to be touched or sit still or control “fits”. And for Kodi to go from where he was to being so calm and controlled, props to him and his family. I can’t imagine how hard it was/is. Especially being legally blind and not being able to see who’s touching you and what they’re doing. He’s a strong, motivating individual and talented as hell

His mom is a true hero. I´ve met so many kids with neurodevelopmental disorders that have been hidden at home by their parents who didn´t know what to do with them and didn´t dare to even give them proper education with the excuse that it takes too many expenses.

Normal kids don't even act that good

Many parents today are pretty indulgent these days and allow their kids to behave badly. Kodi's mom realized that with Kodi"s autism, she needed to help him overcome all his 'tantrums' as an autistic child, in order for him to properly socialize with society and better himself. Kudo 's to the mom's dedication, and everyone else who has helped him.

@@eduardoking8402 Dana says- Sorry, I think what you meant was 'meltdowns' not tantrums. There is a big difference. A meltdown is triggered when someone isn't able to cope with an overwhelm of internal and external sensory or emotional stimuli. A tantrum is when someone is upset at not getting what they want or feel like they need at the time. A tantrum will end when the person is given what they wanted. A meltdown, though it might look the same or similar to an tantrum is completely different in nature.

Dana says- Autistics like my son really dislike that term "normal", as if they are abnormal. Because really, what is normal when we are all so different in so many ways? There isn't one single way to be/exist that makes a person "normal. A lot of people in the autism community prefer NT or neurotypical (for people not on the autism spectrum) and neurodiverse or autistic (for people on the autism spectrum). Thanks.
