Nobody will read this I’m sure, but I remember watching this after it came out, and then a few weeks later going on a work trip. My flight landed in Chicago 2 hours after the incident, so I remember walking off the airplane into the hotel lobby and seeing grieving and I didn’t know why. Until I saw a TV, which was showing the news. As a lifelong basketball fan (but not even necessarily a Kobe-particular fan compared to others beforehand) beginning to cry in the airport, because regardless of my prior fandom of the athlete (he was always beating my team, so that’s why I didn’t pull for him, because of how good he truly was), I was a big fan of the man, Kobe Bryant. This was a tough one. There will never be another like him.

ScantsRants It’s like this with Matt. When he played for Orlando years ago, I noticed he was fiery as a player on the court. His behavioral stances wasn’t as live in Orlando at the time was it was when he became a full blown journeyman the rest of the way. When he played for the Grizzlies, that’s when I really pick up on his behavioral tendencies. Yes he had that fiery temper, but the guy is one of those no non sense guys who will put you on blast. When he did his first interview as a Grizzly, that’s when I noticed this bruh talks with some solid intel. I was astounded because at the time with Matt’s rep, lockdown defense, get in your grill, willing to fight, etc. When you get to see another side of a player, it’s cool to get to see that because it’s like a rare moment you get to see from players.

As a lifelong Spurs and NBA fan, two takeaways. 1) I could listen to Kobe talk all day long about his personal interactions with MJ. Their connection, similarities, and differences are just so interesting and fun. And 2) to hear Kobe speak about San Antonio with so much reverence just means so much as a Spurs fan watching that rivalry for all those years. He contributed to so many amazing memories for each of those respective team’s franchises. They dominated the NBA for nearly 20 years. Kobe will truly be missed! #RIP

I love that Kobe didn’t do typical media stuff for Retired players when he stopped playing basketball (podcast on the game, sitting on a panel breaking down every game with current players, etc.). He was Kobe.. he had to navigate a new course and set a new path. Writing books for kids Won an Oscar Coaching kids And so many more projects he was probably planning that we’ll probably never know about. Paulo Coelho had come out and said he was deleting how far they had gotten in a joint venture of a new book because it was senseless without him now (the day of his death). I wonder how much more we would have seen from him. RIP Kobe ❤

RIP to Kobe Bryant and his beautiful daughter. I can say that I was literally in tears. Tragic, unbelieveable and heartbreaking. Kobe was my age, 41. Graduated the same year as I as well. And of course followed him through his whole career. So I felt like I knew him, as funny as that might sound. So I feel like I lost a close friend. Prayers for him and family.

HUGE sports fan here. I'm just now getting into the podcast scene and I love the upsurgence of athletes telling their stories so we can fully grasp how they showed their skills to us through their careers. RIP to Kobe Bryant! Hearing his voice was so surreal. I've heard countless post-game interviews and stories from others. But I truly connected with the Black Mamba after his career in basketball. He spoke with the same amount of intensity and passion after hanging up the boots. And listing to this interview almost broke me. This giant of a man was loved by so many people across the globe and I'm glad I'll be able to take some memory of his legacy to the afterlife.

I’m so glad this interview happened. Got me choked up at work on a sunday half a decade later. Man, I HATED Kobe as a Nuggets fan, when he started to decline and all that I grew to appreciate him so much and looked forward to the picture he was gonna paint post-career. The loss for basketball and life in general can’t be quantified. Not only was his family robbed of the future of him and his wonderful daughter, but the whole world was. Rip KOBE, the fiercest basketball competitor of all time.

Who could ever forget Matt & Kobes rivalry and now look at how much he respects and admires Kobe in this interview. Truly an amazing man. Miss him terribly

A few things I picked up from this if anybody is Interested: • Kobe’s confidence wasn’t a delusional type of confidence, he knew he put the necessary amount of work in • Kobe would recognize the talent in others, respect where respect is due • Recognize the areas you are not comfortable in, and get better in those • Kobe would seek knowledge. Talk to people you are interested in and think might know something
