I mean he was but this is like beginner basketball lesson. We were taught this as kids, not to kick your leg back on pumpfakes. #1 it makes you slower when taking off because your adding an extra motion and #2 you arnt actually a threat to shoot like he says. A true pump fake would involve you actually taking the shot unless the defensive collapses, then you make your move, you should never be intending to pump fake, you should be pump faking with a real intention to shoot the ball.

Naw Kobe wasn’t “fundamentally sound”, he just had a high IQ. Kobe took shots that coaches tell you to never take. He would shoot off balance, off the wrong leg etc. However, he had the athleticism to make them.
@SincereSentinel
Жыл бұрын
@@TrueAnakinSkywalker He took shots off balance when he felt he had to, not by choice. If you think for even a second that at the core of things his footwork, follow through while shooting, shooting stance, defense and a multitude of other aspects within his reportoir weren't fundamentally sound, I'd politely suggest you watch his entire career over again. Because you're way off the mark.
@TrueAnakinSkywalker
Жыл бұрын
@@SincereSentinel i did watch Kobe and there isn’t one basketball coach that would teach what Kobe did. It’s not a knock on Kobe it’s because he was uniquely talented to cover for when he didn’t show proper fundamentals. Of course he knew about the fundamentals he was too smart not to. That being said if he was caught in an awkward position, rather than passing the ball back out and setting up again there is a good chance he would shoot it anyway. Patrick Mahomes throws passes and uses techniques that will never be coached to a player but he’s able to get away with it because he’s uniquely talented, it’s the same thing. I can show you a ton of videos where Kobe forced a shot up rather than pass it.
@SincereSentinel
Жыл бұрын
@@TrueAnakinSkywalker I'm not seeking to argue. And I can see the point you're wishing to make, with open eyes. But in that point, you yourself are acknowledging that at his core he is fundamentally sound, and in fact he was, exceptionally so. He bet on himself to make tough shots thousands of times, but that doesn't deviate away from the fact that at his core he was as fundamentally sound and as good a student of the game, as the game of basketball will ever be a witness to. There's a difference in the two messages we are conveying. Your's is based on saying he put up shots that he shouldn't have, that's fine, in a 20+ year basketball career you could consider every basketball player who has ever played even a sliver that long to be entirely un-fundamentally sound based on your same standards. I haven't seen one person to ever refrain from taking extremely difficult and perhaps risque or mathematically improbable shots in the heat of the moment. That in no way means he wasn't fundamentally sound overall. Rather that he bet on himself and found ways to be great even under duress. And again, given any opportunity to play the game in a fundamental way, he preferred to, and knew how to at an elite and masterful level.

Another demonstration of what makes Kobe Bryant such an incredible person then, now and in the future; besides his tremendous physical talent, he has so much more going for him, such as his legendary work ethic, his observational skills as we see in this clip, but also his intelligence to analyse both the strategy of the opponent in general and the tactics of each opponent during a game, as well as the ability to react to those tactics and in most cases counter them incredibly quickly, and when I say "quickly" I don't mean his great athleticism, but his mind. Like in this short film here, you can hear how smart and fast Kobe played the game in his head before he even moved his body. I am convinced that the combination of this kind of awareness, intelligence and quick processing lifts the greats above the rest in any situation.

They both studied analytically, but Kobe had the benefit of both coming the generation after Jordan and the privilege of learning directly from him. The real difference between them, though, is that Kobe was hungry enough early enough in his career to seek out and puck the brains of the best and most experienced players in the history of the league. Magic, Jordan, Reggie Miller, Hakeem. He took everything he could to gain any advantage. Jordan studied his opponents to beat them, and Kobe studied to beat his past performances

Jordans the same way, there's a reason why they say he was the perfect combination of skills and athleticism. @@TrueAnakinSkywalker He took shots off balance when he felt he had to, not by choice.

Intimate knowledge of the game. Kobe, no words.
Imagine how many thoughts he put it into during the process… legendary

I’m a life long Lakers fan. And when Kobe died, I cried like a baby. I cried like a family member died. And to this day, I still get a lump in my throat whenever I hear about him. REST EASY, MAMBA. Much love to Gigi & the other 7 passengers too. What a horrible tragedy. It’s just not fair smh 😓✌🏾

@@davidwujczyk3037 I know a lot of people who couldn't stand Kobe or Michael Jordan. I also know a lot of people who can't stand Lebron. Personally, my favorite is MJ, then Kobe, and then Lebron. I like all 3, but Lebron doesn't have that killer instinct like MJ or Kobe had. Don't get me wrong, Lebron is an amazing player, he just doesn't have that dog in him. Lebron is bigger and more powerful than MJ or Kobe was, and he's playing in a shooter's era. He should be wreaking havoc, but he's not. Can you imagine if MJ or Kobe played in this shooter's era. OMG!!! Lebron will get you to the Finals a bunch a times, but you will loose a bunch of them. Lebron 4 rings, Kobe 5 rings, MJ 6 rings. I went ahead and gave Lebron his 4th ring, even though it was a short season ring. 😅🤣😂

Jordan played the game naturally, Kobe studied and knew the game analytically. Greatest basketball mind of all time. No one knew the game better and/or could explain it better
@popeye697
Жыл бұрын
They both studied analytically, but Kobe had the benefit of both coming the generation after Jordan and the privilege of learning directly from him. The real difference between them, though, is that Kobe was hungry enough early enough in his career to seek out and puck the brains of the best and most experienced players in the history of the league. Magic, Jordan, Reggie Miller, Hakeem. He took everything he could to gain any advantage. Jordan studied his opponents to beat them, and Kobe studied to beat his past performances
@grega4231

Jordans the same way, there's a reason why they say he was the perfect combination of skills and athleticism. The difference is Kobe wants to teach his craft to future generations, mj wouldn't do it unless you went to him hungry. Kobe went to him hungry and became his student. I do believe Kobe was more focused on the details than mj though.

Goat... 😂😂😂😂 In a team sport.... 😂😂😂.... Comparing guys that played 70 years apart from each other..... In a sport that changed rules numerous times throughout the last 70 years. How the hell do you compare Bob Petit or George Mikan to Ja Morant or Antetokounmpo? If we are talking "greatest" then it would havr to be the one who madr the sport most popular/relevant in its entirety... So Magic and Bird made it national and Jordan made it global. Thats where the story ends.... Who was the best? Impossible to say and a stupid thing to ask in the first place. Because basketball now and basketball in 1950 are two totally different sports....
