    Smart and stupid are too polarizing to be useful. What is smart, what is stupid, what is the truth? People will hardly agree on these except from their own perspective. Thinking critically and being able to entertain alternative viewpoints is a start in the right direction.

    @@curtissharris8914 "Thinking critically and being able to entertain alternative viewpoints" That's what smart people do. Stupid people don't question the narrative. Smart isn't about what you know and stupid isn't about what you don't know. It's about thinking critically and being able to entertain alternative viewpoints. It's a behavioural trait. If you think over an issue in a critical manner and you still don't understand it....say so. Don't just fall for it because some alleged smart person said so. That would make you susceptible to lies and THAT would be stupid.

Adding detail, so to speak, except I don't find the use of those words polarising. Smart people use critical thinking. Stupid people don't. Smart people are filled with facts. They understand how to gather facts and use them and are flexible in how they think. If I use another word besides stupid, I'm still saying the same thing. I'm just trading in one negative word for another one.

It's interesting to note that human behavior and decision-making are often shaped by a variety of factors, some of which we may not even be aware of. I'd suggest you to watch my videos on experiments like the Milgram Shock Experiment (kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJONtKSmgbDgnrQ.html) and the Bobo Doll Experiment (kzread.info/dash/bejne/m2Vqwbh9ZbGuntY.html) that shed light on how people can behave in unexpected ways due to social influence and learned behaviors. Bon Hoffer was an outspoken Lutheran pastor. During World War II, he was held captive by the Nazis, and imprisoned for most of the war. He took the time to try to understand how such an advanced culture as was present in Germany before the Nazi takeover, with famous scientists philosophers, and enlightened scholars and thinkers could have gone so far off the rails so easily and quickly. He couldn’t understand why the German people became mesmerized with a message that seemed so counterintuitive to everything the German people represented. He finally decided there was no explanation except and unwillingness to face the truth. Unfortunately, he was killed by the Nazis in 1945 before the West had a chance to rescue him. Sadly, our society is suffering from that same mindless uncurious, unquestioning stupidity just as the German people were in the 1930s and 40s.

    Yup, very true, wish I could like your comment a thousand times! I find that people constantly assume I must be as stupid as they are, and they then get angry when they see that this is not the case - and that's when the abuse starts! I have come to the conclusion that it's best to pretend to be stupid - but this is far more difficult than one thinks, lol! For example, people expect me to be unable to cope with everyday life (a comment I heard just yesterday: "you cannot be trusted with electrical equipment" - this from someone that has never met me). How can I then pretend to be what they expect me to be, to keep them happy and thus prevent them from getting aggressive and abusive, when I am too well spoken to be of that low intelligence level, dressed too well and have to mention (in context) that I work for a living? I have been arrested for asking critical questions, my career has been destroyed for the same reason and my reputation has been so ruined that nobody in my town even speaks to me. So yes, it's definitely safer to pretend to be stupid.

    I'd argue that malice is stupidity. Both cause unethical outcomes, which is what defines stupidity in the first place (negative utility). From a more enlightened perspective, what some would describe as "malice" is in truth its opposite, when unethical individuals are opposed, even violently if needed. Thus being unethical is merely a subset of being wrong, whether violent or not, while violence used in the right context is ethical. "Malice" is far too commonly used to mean violence, which from a childish perspective is "evil" or something similar.

    One problem with curing the problem of stupidity is that, as invalid ideologies become more sophisticated, their adherents, especially the ones who truly understand said ideologies are hokum, will create pseudorationales that mimic reason. This provides these invalid ideologies with some inoculation to criticism for a while. The hope of those proffering the snake oil is that, by the time the public realizes the fraud, they will have seized enough power where the ideology can now be enforced through sheer force. Does it matter to these villains that what they are selling is ultimately destructive? No, as most of them figure they will be long dead once posterity decides to hold them accountable for their atrocities.

Toxic positivity (ie the theory of "attracting things" one doesn't want) has given rise to a lot of victim blaming.

And every great person Jesus, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, JFK, Lincoln, and the Pilgrims and been persuaded and many killed. In the name of truth, justice, peace and liberty. .

    "Stupidity" = Herd instinct...Humans are social animals, some more so than others. In the struggle for survival, for power (as energy and material resource control and throughput), following a herd, being a social animal, is usually advantageous to those individuals who do so since a group generally is stronger than an individual. When the individuals in a group no longer see an advantage in remaining in it (social contract breaks down), following the herd, then the group then breaks apart. The vast majority of humans don't and won't think themselves out of their "stupidity" until this happens-begins to happen.

    I use to call this "cattle mode". Thinking is difficult and many love to just take the "thinking results" of others they perceive as authority. I found myself incapable of entering "cattle mode" which made my whole life quite difficult because people who want to be perceived as authority hate people who don't switch to "cattle mode" in their presence. Now I'm convinced I'm autistic and this is what makes it impossible for me to enter this mode. I have no regrets though. Often, especially so-called "professionals", then make false accusations. Such behavior is surprisingly common. "Professionals" usually assume that customers/patients/tenants are all intellectually challenged, and when one asks them a question and thereby shows them that one isn't quite as stupid as they assumed, their ego can't stand it and their weak minds melt, and boom - total meltdown.

    The interesting and at the same time scary consequence is that intelligence alone cannot be equated with a realising mind, with perception. Many intelligent people, doctors, professors, lawyers and successful entrepreneurs did not only participate in dark times but have firmly believed in it and developed a bogus logic. Leonardo da Vinci said once: Ci sono tre categorie di persone: quelle che vedono, quelle che vedono quando qualcuno mostra loro cosa vedere e quelle che non vedono affatto. So, the three types of humans where the first group understands (sees), the second understands when you show them and the third will never understand. Seems that it has something to do with the development of the hypocampus as described in the book "The indoctrinated Brain".

  • @LittleKitty22

    @LittleKitty22

    4 ай бұрын

    I have thought about this and I have come to the following conclusion: the so-called "intelligent" people, ie the doctors, professors, lawyers, enterpreneurs etc, have no genuine intelligence - at least not the ones that lack empathy and emotions and are willing to participate in evil activities. They have no soul, no personality, and are therefore not creative and so have no real intelligence. You may ask now - how can they then understand the profession they are in, get degrees, pass all their exams? A valid question. Here is what I have found: first of all, an evil person (nowadays called "narcissist" or whatever term one may want to use, but an evil person all the same) will always either have connections, or easily make connections to people in higher positions, ie with power. So for a start, they get their degrees whether they understand what they are doing or not. The people with power make sure of that. I could write an entire book with examples of doctors who don't understand the very basics of medicine and how the human body works. I have witnessed people in my profession (similar to air traffic control) "passing" exams without understanding the basics. Secondly, and this is where it gets a bit spiritual: since they have subscribed to the dark side, they get told by some evil force how to get through exams, and even more so other people around them get influenced to let them pass/believe them no matter what. For example, I have come across a number of police officers who absolutely believed the criminal to the point of arresting and hounding the victim, despite being told a story (by the criminal) that was so unrealistic that nobody no matter how insane would believe that (eg violent criminals claiming it was the victim, whether this be a severely disabled woman or even a child, had in fact attacked them and held them imprisoned, violated them etc). I have witnessed my stalker waltzing into a pharmacy and immediately getting supplied by the pharmacist with my name, address, date of birth, details of medical conditions and details of medications. I can assure you that if I were to ask for any details of my stalker, I would be confronted with a lengthy speech about data protection and patient confidentiality! So the people around such evil people, at least when they are of a weak mind, somehow get influenced and manipulated into giving the evil person what he wants, no matter what. I have witnessed this many many times. The weak minded people are under some kind of hypnosis, and some even report later having been "under a spell". I am therefore convinced that this is of spiritual origin but that's just my opinion, I'm always open to differing opinions. But no, real intelligence is not found in those that have subscribed to the dark side. Evil/malice and stupidity - often to the point of insanity - inevitably go together.

    Another theory on stupidity suggests that there are two main types of stupid people. One is the typical dumb character often portrayed in films, like the dumb persona (blonde or brunette), where the character is just innocently stupid without them realizing it. The other type of stupid people are those who think they're smart, and they keep believing they're smart, even when they don't know what they're talking about. I think stupidity is a combination of genetics, social and economic affects on them, which often includes their inability to have proper, if not better education, on top of proper nurture from such a young age.

The consciously stupid will always ask questions and stay true to the fact he has acknowledged, that when it comes to all, his nature is that he does not know. We do not know. Life is a gift, not something we know. So stay true to your nature of stupidity. Ask questions. Otherwise you'll impose the world with your narrow mindset. Answer when called upon.
