I know the audio isn't great in this episode! It's the first time I've ever filmed on a flight and the engines were even noisier than I expected. Hope it's not too annoying!
In this video I'm working on my Tolsta tank, the pattern isn't out just yet but will be soon.

More than 22 hours in the air is quite an achievement for a nervous flyer, and carried off with aplomb - you should be proud of yourself! Not to mention completing a Tolsta enroute - well done. Have a wonderful time - I'm looking forward to the next video.
Really impressed that you knit a whole Tolsta on your flights. If I knit a few rounds of a sock I think I'm doing well 😂 Enjoy your trip 😊

Thank you. I wondered what a toaster was. Now I know what to search
Australia and NZ have fabulous yarn shops leave some space in your luggage for buying! the exchange rate is great too! Hehe! 🐑✨🫶
It's brutal flights to the other side of the world for sure! Im glad you're enjoying NZ, Haere mai from the far north (which is seldom on the tourist trail), enjoy xx
thank you for taking us on your trip so far. Enjoy your time in New Zealand and the wedding. 😊
Knitter from Ōtautahi (Christchurch) NZ here. Amazing to get that much knitting done on that flight! Glad to hear you're enjoying your travels and that the flight hasn't put you off. Enjoy the rest of your trip and hope you and Sam do choose to visit again 😊
Glad you are enjoying the trip. NZ is awesome and beautiful. Hope you enjoy Brisbane as well, without melting
Thank you for bringing us along on your epic journey. I’m casting on my first Tolsta this week!
Im so impressed you knit the whole flight! That camisole version looks amazing on you. I love that you are breaking out into bolder colors too it's been so helpful to see. I have the perfect yarn for a camisole version so I really can't wait until you release it! Also, I love that the airline has the flight path and a camera outside the plane. Id have that up the whole flight too!
Welcome to New Zealand. ❤ watching you from Central Otago.

We almost came through your region today! But drove the Crown Ridge route instead of through Cromwell so we missed it.

@the.creabea Queenstown and Wanaka are pretty close. Definitely in my backyard . I hope you are having a wonderful holiday.
I really enjoyed this, it was great to see how your project grew. It looks great. Thank you for talking about being a nervous flier and ways that you try to combat it. I’m terrified of flying so it helped.
Thanks for shring your trip with us. Great Tolsta camisole.
I love how you're documenting your travel knitting. This is my absolute favourite combo! Enjoy your time to the max!!!!

There is so much more coming, I feel like I've been fiming non-stop
Good for you for keeping occupied on the flights! That's a lot of time in the air! I can be a nervous flyer too sometimes, even though I come from an aviation family and have flown for many years. Something that helps me with turbulence is knowing that it's very much like being on a boat in choppy water, so I remind myself that it's more uncomfortable than scary, like riding down a bumpy road. I think the hardest part is you can see bumps in the road or waves on the water, but not in the air. If I do start to worry, I ask myself if the pilots in my life would be worried, and if the answer is no, then I try not to worry too. I also try to channel my focus onto something else, like sodoku or a podcast. Sometimes I sit in my discomfort too -- just acknowledging it helps settle me down some. I hope this helps someone else who gets nervous flying too!
So much fun! Thank you for this trip-with-you. Have a lovely adventure.
Thanks for taking us along on your journey…such Fun! Enjoy your trip!
Thanks for taking us along on your trip to New Zealand! Great video.
Enjoy yourself, and thanks again for bringing us along, x Happy Easter!
you're a machine! looking forward to seeing more of your trip.
Welcome downunder! It is true that once you’re on the plane you just get into a rhythm and it’s not so bad. I hope the rain stops long enough for you to get to the beach xx
This was so cool! And you managed to knit a whole garment on the flight.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful trip with us. Enjoy every second 😍💖🧶
Great job. 🎉
I went to New Zealand last year from Edinburgh and was excited to do so much knitting on the flights. On the way out I did to a little bit, but it turns out flying makes me just as sleepy as being on a boat, so my Hong Kong - Auckland leg I pretty much slept the whole way. We came back Auckland-Doha-London and I got quite travel sick on the first flight (including being sick on the tarmac when we got off the plane in Doha!!) and slept the whole way to London. I was supposed to fly back up to Edinburgh a few hours later but my flight was cancelled and when I got to the hotel I realised I'd lost my knitting project on the flight to Doha!! Only a couple of inches on a sock but still! Never managed to track it down. So all in all a bit of a knitting flop!
That was fun!
Have fun!
My son and his new wife are moving from Washington DC to Canberra. So I will be knitting on a very long flight when I visit as well. Beautiful!
Welcome to New Zealand from Whangarei Northland. I am heading to the UK next month and have already set aside some wool for a pair of socks. I find I do not sleep on planes so need something to keep me occupied.
Thanks for your podcast. Impressive that you got the Tolsta finished. Well jel of that journey. I used to do Edin-Doha-Beijing regularly and loved the travelling. Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to your next podcast.
Thanks Rebecca for sharing your travels, must've been exhausting . You did well to knit your Tolsta vest, looks great on you Xx❤
The Tolsta camisole looks so beautiful, I can't wait to make it when the pattern comes out (...and I actually just finished a swatch for the Tolsta tee while watching your video, lol) Have a wonderful time!
Oh that’s so great I live in New Zealand in Auckland Love your podcasts ❤Watch them all the time ❤
Watching your podcast while knitting on a Lauder sweater. Bliss!
Rebecca!! Welcome to New Zealand and the South Island (I heard you stopped in at Get Flocked in Chch!). Hopefully you get to see lots of our beautiful country and explore some of the Merino country, and excellent yarn shops we have here! Enjoy your trip! 😊

Fun watching this, as a Kiwi in NZ (firstly watched ep.1 of yr “knit around north island NZ”… cool seeing you having a great time here. Looking forward to episode two of your journey.. and curious to know which NZ yarns/products you’ve been drawn to.
That was fun! I am a stressed flyer. I find it hard to relax on a plane. ✈️ hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
Enjoy NZ. You will love it. My Mum was born in NZ. But Im an Aussie. Going to Egypt/Jordan/Guernsey Island/Paris in October. So will have plenty of time to knit.

Hi Rebecca, second hand enjoyment of flying to NZ with you as it is very unlikely I will ever manage that. Too old😂. Happy easter honey, to you and Sam xxx
After one airport dash day in a wool and mohair sweater, I have never again worn a hand knit on a travel day haha, the sweat really is too much
Welcome to New Zealand ❤

I've LOVED it here
Thanks for letting us be a part of your trip, so fun! When I was on a 10.5h flight on my own I knit the entire time. Only put my knitting down for a bathroom brake. People where looking at me funny (I had an isle seat) 😂 I thought it was amazing to get that much uninterrupted knitting time. If you plan on possibly having kids in the future I would highly recommend to get all your long distance travelling done before and then take a break until they are at least ten.... 😩😜
I understand your anxiety flying. I hv flown to Australia. And my daughter was an air hostess. But i had a panic attack in the air. So i choose not to fly. I am not scared of flying which everyone expects. It’s the being shut in and hving to stay there. I 👏👏👏 you for doing it. You look soo happy there xx
Despite the background noise, I stuck with you for the whole thing……….because knitters love watching knitters knit! I just took my knitting with me on my flight, but it was only 2hrs and 15 minutes. Eager to watch the next update in the travel knitting! ClaudiaSJI
Nice work! I managed to knit one sock from Auckland to Honolulu which was 8 hours. Last year we flew from Auckland to Paris return and I didn’t get much knitting done at all!
I’m knitting my first tolsta tee as I watch but thinkit will take me a bit longer to finish -it is 4ply,which is what I had in my stash! However, I have bought the same green Belle for my next one! I’ve also got some red Belle and I think I will see if I can make that work for a Sana when the pattern is released, I don’t think I will wear a wool short sleeved cardi, so want to find a cotton or a blend like Belle so I hope it will work. Enjoy the next bit of your hols! ❤
Hi . I lived in NZ for 9years. Did those flights many times. They are hardcore 😂 And I didn’t knit at the time. Have a great time 🤗

So fun! Assuming your needles did not get taken at security 👍 impressed at finishing your tolsta on the flight! Maybe plain knitting = plane knitting is a good rule ;)

That was fun!! Thank you for taking us along, and hope that you continue to have a great time! 😊
Did you sleep at all? The jet lag must have been vicious. I head off to Amsterdam end of the month so your video is very timely. I’ll now be packing my light and more plain knitting than I planned. I hope you buy some of our lovely wool . Enjoy your visit. Kia kaha

I got a handful of hours in at the end of the flight but the jet lag hit me pretty hard! took about 4 days to get over fully.
Did you have no problems at customs with the knitting needles? I'm always afraid they take my needles, so i don't knit on flights.
Did you use your Chiagoo needles, or wooden needles. I live in Auckland and am flying the opposite way to you at the end of the week. haha. I hope you enjoy your time "down under"
@the.creabea
Ай бұрын
I used my Chiaogoo the whole flight! But the wooden ones are actually also Chiaogoo (bamboo I think). Enjoy your flight! Hope it goes smoothly.
Can you say which needles you took on the plane please.

Cried my eyes out!
Couldn’t hear on the flight
I think Taylow Swift took that quote from my dad. He's been saying it for 35 years as a commercial airline pilot, still won't shut up about it 😂

Oh dear, I thought a plane flight podcast was going to be great but NOPE!! Too much background noise and difficult to understand. I'll wait til you land ☺️☺️☺️ good try.
