    I haven't had to print any of my patterns for YEARS! I bought my KC just as it was finishing its beta testing!!! My iPad is too old to upgrade so I'm still on the Legacy KC which is still a great app. I hope my old iPad lasts for many more years to come but if not, I'll upgrade both the iPad and KC!!! I'm so glad you are a convert and spreading the word of KC like the flu but with better outcomes ... lol!

    I downloaded the app after your first video and I so appreciate the features in the free version. Keeping track of my place in a WIP and the counters are good, not having to keep dozens of pages of paper is even better. I love that I can carry all my patterns and WIPs with me in a digital format.

Just happy to have counters my kids couldn’t click lol but now I need the highlighting and note taking. And my husband hates the clutter of the pattern and notions being left out. So this will help significantly. I do love that I have the ability to carry it all on my phone and so I just need a project bag and I can knit away anywhere. Thank you!!! Looking forward to more of these if you have them. Sad I missed the giveaway. But so grateful for your work!

    Love your teaching ... after your first video I purchased and love this and after flubbing around for a while I came back to revisit both tutorials and it really helped to flub around because watching without knowing exactly what to look for made my first viewing too abstract. I am hoping you do a another one soon, I really resonate with and am grateful for your teaching style. I found a way to bring in a photo of my own work and then mark notes on it It was a complicated slipper that required lots of pieces sewn together illogically and it really helped to label it flat and then work with it having penned notes onto the photo. I just made a few notes in Pages and inserted the photo, then saved as a pdf and air dropped it from computer to my ipad because I don't know how to do it yet directly on the ipad. Anyway I love this software and your instructions and persona.

    Interesting. When I have a .pdf currently of Ravelry free patterns iPad software lets you select Acrobat vs. iBooks and I select Acrobat on account of the features Acrobat has which allows me to make moveable highlights, add notes to patterns of things I preferred to change or errors in the way the pattern was written. As my iPad is smaller than my laptop, I use it more. Even though it isn't the newest iPad, it is an iPad 4, it is working well. But the free version of KnitComanion, I'm going to check out. My line of work was computer graphic arts so knowing Acrobat well has really helped me, I do see, however, that for many knitters, this would be a God-send, especially if they have an iPad already. Thanks for sharing. But I have upgraded my IOS as far as this will let me. But if I get a newer iPad, certainly something to keep in mind.

I am a bit shy about using this, used to working pdf's from my laptop and adding notes where the pdf's allow, many do not. • @ooohlaa13

    @ooohlaa13

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@verypinkknits no I purchased with scribble but what I am saying is that you cannot handwrite notes, you have to type them, so when you tap on add a note you have to be in edit mode and you can only scribble on the actual pattern in knit mode, unless I am mixed up I don't think ... you can only right directly on the pattern, like say you want to write a note that is larger than you can squeeze in on the actual pattern itself you have to change modes a add a note where notes are stored hope i am making sense thanx anyway I am glad to have the software just need to stop being intimidated by it

  • @verypinkknits

    @verypinkknits

    4 жыл бұрын

    Here is the reply I got from the developer...I will fit a demonstration in to the next video, if there is time. 1. they can use scribble (it has a highlighter tip for the pen, or in the case of this person wanting to circle their size they can do that with the regular pen tip just like on paper), 2. or they can add highlights from edit/highlights. For highlights see here: www.knitcompanion.com/ufaqs/add-highlights/ One other nice thing you can also do with either scribble or highlights is “white out” all the sizes except yours. So pick a white as a color and make it not at all transparent, and “mark out” the sizes you don’t want. For some this is much easier and less confusing than lots of numbers still showing, even if the one you want is marked.

    You can designate counters for whatever you need...maybe keep 1-4 for your cable charts, and use 5 and 6 for your decreases.

    I would like a comparison of the edit vs the set up Sections. I just want to navigate better vs seeing a video and remembering that is where you did that.

    Thanks so much for your great KC tutorials. I am loving the program and have found all your videos helpful. I have the paid subscription version and my icon to rotate the page to landscape has disappeared. It used to be on the right hand side above the marker. Do you have any suggestions as to how to get it back?

    Thank you for these videos. I've been using knit companion for years and your videos have taught me so much. Have you done a video of the new knit companiin? My pages don't show up in the top ribbon. There's a bottom ribbon that tells you how many pages there are, but I can't figure out how to get to my 2nd page. Help!

    I dont see where it tells you how to change rows. Just manually with the highlighter bar? I dont need the upgraded version for that.

    Thanks so much. I had no idea how to do any of the things shown esp the counters and how to add pages. (I’m not sure what I’d done to get them left out in the first place). Is there any way to get PDF files that are on your device but not in ravelry?

    Yes - the other way to get files on your device (besides Ravelry) is through Dropbox. It only takes a minute to set up a free Dropbox account, and it's really easy to use.

    Is it possible to add another vertical line marker? I usually knit a small size, but charts are usually made with the stitch counts for the largest size with bold lines to match the stitch count for smaller sizes. For example, a chart may have 100 stitches for the largest size, but I only knit the middle 80 for a small or medium. Having two vertical lines would allow me to block off the extra stitches I don’t need. Currently, I take a pencil and shade out the extra stitches anytime I work a chart made this way because it can get very confusing. Also, is it possible to keep those lines if chose to export to a PDF and print?

    I don't know if that is possible...I haven't seen how to do it myself. You can always ask the developer directly if you have a question. She can be reached via Facebook message or her website, links to both are in the video description field.

    Sure you can as many stitch markers as you like, See here: www.knitcompanion.com/ufaqs/add-highlights/ if you are using iOS you can also use scribble to draw more markers right on the chart (scribble even has a ruler for drawing perfectly straight lines). if you need further assistance please email support@knitcompanion.com

    Hi Staci, so I’m back with another question. I have KC on both my iPhone and iPad, but for some reason, it doesn’t sync up… ie; I use my iPad at home but went to a dr appt yesterday and the pattern was on my phone but none of my counting or highlights etc were there. Is that usual or do I need to do something-to get them to sync?

    Beverly - when you have a project in progress, you have to save it as a project in the Cloud if you want to open it on another device. Opening the PDF file (not the project file) will open the file without your counter and notes. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hIiBlNx9npyalaw.html

    I enjoyed this video. I hate buying apps. You have good intentions, install the app and it does not work out as expected. Your review has been very helpful. It seems that this app can do what I was hoping for. Write and edit patterns. Do you use the app to write your patterns?

    knitCompanion is for interacting with existing patterns. There is another app called PatternGenius, also made by knitCompanion, that is for designing. I have videos on that app, too.
