I wondered what the pattern was on the hat my husband was given by his grandmother. Now I know! I believe she knitted it on a knitting machine, but could be wrong. K1P1 ribbing! Thanks for teaching me something new, today! I have only done hats like that with the knit stitch, the stockinette stitch. I am glad to learn another way!

I'm glad it was helpful!
Great video, great tips! Didn’t know about the slipping the last purl stitch to keep the pattern uninterrupted during the decreases! Thanks for sharing that info!

You're welcome!
Sometimes I knit back and forth after the cast on, for a few rows, then start in the round . I closed the gap with the tail. It is easier to make sure you don’t have a twist

Glad it was helpful!
My favorite cast on method is the German Twisted cast on and I love making the brim in twisted rib. It’s an aesthetic I’ve been digging for a long time.

I haven't tried the German Twisted cast on - going to have to give that one a try!
Thank you for the wonderful instructions, so very helpful

You make it look so easy lol
Just do it on straight needles and sem it up using mattress stitch.

That would work well too!
Great tutorial, thank you 😊. I am getting ready to knit my first hat…is there a reason to do a “join in the round”? Some tutorials join in the round, and some do not, which is leaving me confused. Help please 🙏🏻

If the hat is going to be knit in the round then you need to join both ends after you cast on and start knitting in the round - that's what joining in the round means!
Thanks for this! Do you think I could knit a hat with superfine (size 1 yarn)?

Yes, certainly!
Do you do left handed
I liked the info could you slow down a little I haven’t knitted in years and trying to catch up again
do we need to use the alternate cast on or can we use another one? Will it affect the stretch? I prefer an easier one but can't think of the name of it. It is where you estimate the yarn then start casting on.

You can definitely substitute with another cast-on - but I would choose one that is stretchy.
What if i want it a longer slouchy hat... The other tutorial i've watch its not long enoungh to what i like plz help

Cast on more stitches so it's a bit slouchy (not too much or it won't stay in place) and then just keep knitting the body until it's as long as you want it to be.
