Anyone else here remember KITT’s voice box modulator being located in the center of the dash where a tape deck would be, and not on top the steering wheel? This is a BIG Mandela Effect for many and I watched this show like crazy growing up. I remember it being near the shifter. If you watch episodes, Michael even looks that direction when talking to KITT which makes it so bizarre

Nice little chunk of history,Joe...nice to have you sitting in your screen used KITT,my piece of tyre is proudly displayed on my bookcase... I am assuming you have made a replica of the insert dash for your car??not the Hero dash... So i hope you can clear up a burning question I've had for years..the S1/2 switchpods...the Sheffe pods and the one you have are the same angle on both sides, but when Universal,i assume made new molds of the dash and pods if anyone has noticed, the right side pod in the hero car is at a lower angle than the left..you see it when KITT self activates and the hero dash comes on...also White Line Warriors when KITT is following Bowdrie's truck the pods are diffferent heights..anyways..my theory always has been the right pod obscured the 3 red readouts so it was lowered,Joe can you put my 30 year plus question to bed??thanks again for all your hard work...

Great video, as always; I enjoy seeing the behind-the-scenes short-cuts that are used to give the illusion of functionality where full operation isn't always needed. I do have one quick question that maybe you, or a viewer might be able to answer. On K.I.T.T.'s "voice module", shown in this video at about the one minute mark - do the individual segments have several different levels of brightness as the bar progresses, or are they either ON or OFF? It looks like they have gradations of brightness as the sound increases, but that may be an optical illusion caused by your frame rate, or just light bleeding through from the previous, lit, segment. I want to build my own, and I want to get it right. Thanks.

@@spyone4828 Excellent advice: The driver uses an LM3915 Bargraph driver chip - obsolete now, but still obtainable. Based on the internal design (of the chip) each LED is either on or off, and any appearance to the contrary is just a shutter speed artifact, persistence of vision, or bleed through from the nearest ON LED (most likely D) all of the above). It also answered another question I had about how the outer displays related to the inner one. Many thanks!
