The grid lights are standard 2X4 translucent "egg crate" light fixture inserts below and a regular translucent 2X4 lens overtop of that. The fixture behind would have been a standard 2X4 drop ceiling fixture using either 2 or 4 tube fluorescent lighting with (most likely) a F40/T12 daylight tube (bulb). All of these are still available at electrical wholesalers. I hope this helps.

  • @elduderinolebowski5411

That "computer chair" at 7:11 is actually a drafting stool, those were very common in Engineering studios at the time. I used one very similar to that (except it was grey) for decades. There aren't a lot of these still in use today, but that's what this is, a drafting stool, which is probably why you haven't found anything like it when searching for "computer chairs". The way the tubes are bent and assembled below the foot rest ring are particularly unusual, just as the casters are of an uncommon type, so I expect this will be relatively difficult to find. Look around at old Engineering firms, city and county public works offices, that kind of thing. Maybe a local college or university with an Engineering or Drafting department, or other governmental agency likely to keep old furniture in storage, might have one of these that you can obtain. As old as that is, this will be like hunting for a needle in a haystack, but you might get lucky, there are still some out there. Failing that, if you can find one that has a similar or exact style of seat and backrest (these will be the hardest parts to duplicate), you could have an expert welder create the lower foot rest ring and leg tubes relatively simply. It wouldn't be inexpensive, but it would be exact. In a similar vein, you could probably get a good fabricator to make new casters as well. Also, the phone in the lounge looks like a repurposed contemporary pay phone from the era, with a different faceplate (still made out of the same type of rough finish material) to change the layout of the handset and keypad. It may be painted red, but it actually looks like a dark red bakelite, which was an available option during that period. And lastly, that red coffeemaker looks suspiciously like a Norelco Dial A Brew from that period.

@@davidlyons9992 they sure are. Modern "Computer chairs (specifically "gaming style") are dominating that arena now, but there are still some people who prefer this kind of stool for drafting and engineering work. The designs have changed with modern tastes and styles, though. Those older ones are a lot harder to find. My dad found the one I had, very similar to the one these guys are looking for, tucked away in an attic at the old County Public Works building, I don't know when it got stored there or why it got put away, but it was around the period of this show when we found it. They let him have it just to get rid of it, and he gave it to me. I used that stool for close to thirty years before one of my kids "borrowed" it and never gave it back. I have no idea where it is today, sadly.

Yes! Those "computer chair" stools were very popular throughout engineering offices and labs in the 60s, 70s and 80s, they were also common in classes like school chemistry labs. I've seen several of that general style clustered together in storage rooms with old electronics equipment throughout the years. Always blue or orange. A high school vocational electronics program I attended in the 90s had two labs with donated 'hand-me-downs' from the industry, and many weren't in the best of shape by then, especially mechanically where the back and stool sections attached, or casters coming off - most would probably be easily fixable with some patience and TLC. I'd be very surprised to find any still in regular use today, their modern equivalents have evolved quite a bit.

The magazine rack is one I know I've seen in plenty of offices. It's a modular type where the top section mounts flat to the wall then the next one hangs onto it, and each one down hangs onto the one above. If it's out of production then finding one is going to be like when people were hunting for old Dr's offices that still had the same type of chair that the original Star Trek Enterprise captain's chair was built around. The bookshelf looks like it's only a couple of inches deep. I bet they sawed the spines off and glued them in place. When find out exactly what set they are, contact books by the foot. Would not be surprised if they have a dozen full sets. For the chrome lounge lamps look at Kovacs Sonneman or Robert Sonneman or Koch & Lowy. You're looking for chrome eyeball lamps, 1970's vintage.

As for the orange chairs on wheels, I did see a set in green with the same chrome bottoms in a Christian resale store in Two Rivers Wisconsin. They go to a kitchen set with an octagon shaped formica table. I think they wanted about 65 USD for the set of 4 chairs with the table with a leaf included. The whole furniture and counter/shelving set is late 1970s office furniture. It may be nearly impossible to find these days; that sort of stuff tended to be junked when people remodeled their offices. But I recognize the slatted panels and doors, with the curved pieces from an "Executive Suite" type set of office furniture from that era. Likewise the rolling chairs around the low table are conference room chairs, probably from the same designer. I almost wonder if they didn't come out of the studio offices after a make-over.

The hinges and bars on the back can be sourced from equestrian semi trilers. And the wire guide can probably be 3d printed since its plastic and it will be as close to a match as you can get. Will also work for little things and details unfound.

I noticed in one of your more recent previous vids, that the roll up door you speak of, was actually STILL IN the trailer, when it was used on the show! The false ceiling was low enough for the roll up door to pass over it, and its tracks were also still there meaning the roll up must have been still operable behind the specialized ramp door. -At 2m53s in this video, you can still see one of the roller hinges for that roll up door, still in its track, behind the pulley for the ramp door, and at the very top of the frame above the false ceiling! (Follow the cable off the pulley to where it crosses the edge of the false ceiling, & look straight up from that intersection... There's the hinge pivot for the roll up, and the parallel line just above the cable for the ramp door is the track the rollers for roll up door go into) -Granted, the roll up door cannot operate with the cables for the ramp door in the way, but both doors DID exist on that trailer, at the same time! -even if the roll up one was locked back out of the way. The false ceiling looks like they used standard 2'x4' "egg crate" light diffusers for drop ceiling grid, along with the thin, fogged light diffusers that would be pretty typical for most 2'x4' drop in florescent light fixtures. (Both type of diffusers are still available at places like menards & home depot) The metal strips between the diffuser panels looks to be a "brushed aluminum" style ceiling grid, and in todays world, that grid may still be available through *Chicago Metallic* (a ceiling grid manufacturer). The distance between the black beams holding up the ceiling, look like the spaces in each "bay" were bigger than 4'x8', so they made a light grey, 1" thick, "soffit" that was trimmed out with brushed aluminum around the inside perimeter of the hole(s) for the lights that the diffuser panels sat on top of.

The divider rails ... soon as i saw your photo i recognised them. I think i know what these are. In your photo at 07.56, i think the divider rail / shelf upright bracket is the steel thin strip in the middle with slots in it. The black thicker outer bits are simply spray paint type of effect on wood to make it look wider. Almost like they fitted the steel upright with slots and then sprayed a thicker area on each side to make it stand out on chipboard or other wood. The reason the slots are lighter is thats the colour of the material they are screwed into. I have these uprights. the uprights are about half inch thick from the wall out so wood could be butted up to the upright, then sprayed to make it all look thicker. ... only problem is they are holding up a ton of my books on shelves !! I brought these brackets in the 1980s. But i am in the UK. I can send you photos if you want.

Comparing the one used in the set and the one you found online. I noticed they seem to be available with either 2 electric burners on the stove on that cabinet to the left and the one in the trailer looked like gas burners as the burners look silver color with the black grates on top. If that's the case, there would have to be a propane tank somewhere outside trailer. Either at the front or under the trailer and is something I observed looking at your cabinet pictures.

The chair have that 70's vibe to them and you should not have a problem finding those. The desk chair is the same style of and old one I have at work but it is not the taller high chair like that one is. And if you noted the desk chair and the office chair have the same swivel casters on them. That kitchenette you may find in old camping trailers. I was thinking about the ceiling lights. I think those are very simple. lounge door had "wired glass" in it. For as far i can see in this video, those squares are similar as the squares in the loungedoor glass. So my guess is that the whole ceiling was covered with "wired glass" with a diffuser on top of it. That way you still see the squares of the wires but can't see the tubes directly. And because it's a diffuser, the light looks very even. This is still commonly used in studio's to make light "softer" and as this was most likely a studio set, my guess is that they used it like this.
