You are 100% correct. I bought the KLR for $1800. I did some mods and upgrades. I would say my Klim gear, TCX boots and Shoei helmet alone cost more than the KLR. I love the idea I'm doing everything and sometimes more than the BMW GS series. I am headed North through Flag Staff through Sedona and then Route 66 (Hwy 40 and Hwy 15) the rest of the way home.

Find the three sided stakes with the notches only cut on one side. I've bent too many of those stakes.

Oh, so Joe lives in Buckeye. I was wondering why somebody that lives in Southern CA would trek all the way to Arizona, although it is likely a LOT less populated than Southern CA on Memorial Day weekend. Things are heating up here (Ft Huachuca area) so I don't envy you on your ride back to CA during the middle of the day whenever you do head back. Maybe a nighttime ride would be fun.... At this point, I am thinking all of your camping and riding gear cost more than your KLR!

What's up! New sub. Nice video man. I'm in the IE too. Do you ever make it up to El Mirage?

El Mirage is 1 1/2hrs North of me. I've been to Lake L.A. What is in El Mirage that I should look for?

@@adventurevin7600 It's a 3 mile long dry lake bed. It has a $15 day pass or $99 for the year. But you can go in after 3pm no one is there. It's just a big riding area that is pretty chill on weekdays. A lot of history as well.

I'd ditch that hammer in favor of a small hatchet. Still heavy, but 3x more useful.

Funny you say that. Joe had a hatchet on this trip but preferred my hammer. I carried both for awhile and never once used the hatchet after 30K of travels. But I encourage people to carry what works best for them.
