Thanks man! That was exactly what I needed to know. And very clearly shown and explained. I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video, helps me a ton! I’m always trying to find ways to carry less weight but keep the same functions for fixing the problems I run into, so I think that possibly the loss of the magnetic function would be acceptable for what I typically see. If I was removing 100 fasteners I would go get the right tool, but for a service call situation where I might only need to get a couple pesky odd fasteners out this seems a decent solution. Thanks again.

I’m the same. The Malcos have been great…They have been extremely durable, I hope the Klein is the same. If nothing else maybe it will force Malco to come out with more sizes of the reversible sockets

I have the Klein flip sockets but I honestly hate them. It was such a neat idea with terrible execution because the sockets are so shallow that they are pretty much useless for most of the sheet metal screws I run into. I went back to just carrying magnetic nut driver bits.

It has a “feature” where you can push it forward slightly to give you more room. It has a Philips bit symbol and that’s where you can use it as a bit driver. Doesn’t take much for it to seat back down almost flush to the magnet like you’re saying

I've learned that Klein uses non-standard bits, which means that I can only store Klein bits in the Klein screwdriver. This makes it useless to me. I've wasted $40 on a screwdriver that I've not yet once used.

You can put others in the 14-1, but I ended up having an issue with mine opening and closing using Dewalt Bits. It took about 8 months for it to show up. I’m not 100% positive it was the bits, but I swapped back out to Klein and it fixed the issue. Others have said they haven’t had a problem, others say they have. There are a lot of variables to know 100%. (What bits, how you use it, etc)… So other brands will fit the 14-1, but you may or may not end up with issues

That Dewalt set doesn’t have a 9/16. I will add a link in the description. You can get them in store at Lowes or on Amazon. I would say the magnet works about 90% as well as the Malco when on the Malco shaft. It feels just slightly less powerful. (It’s probably slightly at a different depth) Post a link in just a few.

I believe those Dewalt ones do. Salem Kares LLC and Wm0104 commented about a set different than the ones I have and Salem Kares LLC said they did work. The Dewalt I have on the Malco shaft…the magnet does set a little high so if they are a little longer they probably do work well. Thanks for your comment!

I lost my malco 1/4-5/16 bit end so i was wondering if the klein 1/4-5/16 bit also loses the magnet functionality on the malco extension. Was thinking of buying one to replace that bit and still use the kline driver with the other two sockets.

Thank you for watching and the compliment. I have the 8/10 and 5/16 & 3/8 ones. I just noticed the 6/8 one the other day. I kinda wish Malco wouldn’t have doubled up and did a 3/8 and something else and a 10mm and something else instead of giving us two with 8mm and 5/16. I really love the Malco ones and by all appearance my guess is they are probably more durable but I don’t think I will have a problem with these Kleins for how I use them.

I do think I like the Malco 1/4 & 5/16 better in my drill. I kinda think it’s the feature to half slide the 1/4 out to put the driver bits in makes the Klein feel weird when swapping them. I still love the tool for the size options and storage, especially as a screwdriver. I like it better than the other all-in-one nut drivers because of the options…but if Malco comes out with the other sizes I would probably still buy them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it… it’s good to hear what others think.
