KiwiRail Thunder through the King Country
On Wednesday March 6th we chase KiwiRail's freight service 229 from Otorohanga to Manson's Siding just north of Raurimu, we start first of all by seeing Trains 200 & 234 in Otorohanga before beginning our chase of 229 down the NIMT. I was originally intending to chase 229 to National Park but due to it being a bit late it got too dark to continue chasing south of Raurimu but it was still a good chase nonetheless. Enjoy!

Had no idea there's a 1/1 electric train set in KC too. Here i was thinking they only existed in Welly & jafa country. Then again very little news from the south makes it past the bombays ,those hills really are good at keeping the riff raff out

It’s between Hamilton and Palmerston North that the NIMT is electrified.
Heyy I am kind of new to the train scene in new zealand, but I would love to film trains as one of my hobbies is filmmaking, and I would love to film them. How do you know when and what trains come at a selected location? Please tell me because I would love to know!

Timetables can often be found on New Zealand locomotives Facebook group but may not be the latest one
