At 13, you may change your course of direction many times prior to college, during college, after college and even decades into your chosen career. It is your apparent hunger for personal growth that will render you the greatest lessons you will ever learn. For you to possess such conviction to stand out at 13 indicates you are someone who will never stop learning, never stop questioning ' how' & 'why?'; one who always does, one who goes beyond the easy. I'm not sure, but I think some one broke into the house where the dog lived to rob it, and the robber was probably afraid of the pit-bull dog. I don't know if the dog was behaving aggressively towards the robber or just came up to him to see who the new person in the house was. The robber was probably afraid of the dog and took no chances anyway and stabbed the poor dog in the face a few times.

Yeah my dad doesn’t tend to like spending money on my dogs and will often pretend like he wouldn’t take. But the second if I’m upset we get are in the car and on the way. Quite a few years ago one of my dogs (German shepherd/Rottweiler mix) attacked the other (30 pound mutt) and ripped a good chunk of the skin of the neck off (very bloody and very gross) and my dad was the one nursing him back to health because he was my dog and my dad was not about to let me stay upset if he could do something to fix it. My dog ended up being completely fine. And we had both dogs for another like 10 years. The dog that attacked him never did it again I’m still not sure why it happened. But they were the best friends with the exception of those two minutes

We just picked up our two new kittens yesterday. They’re 5-6 months old and are sisters. After seeing Coco in the condition that she was first in, I right away told my sons about what happened to Coco and we looked around to see if there’s anything that could cause the same accident. Safe to say there wasn’t any. My husband had no qualms about getting our pets to the vets. He hated cruelty to animals and took the responsibility of being a pet owner very seriously.

The thing that upsets me most about Cocoa is that the father and family didn't take the time to pet-proof the home. If they had, they would have either removed the table, or plugged the legs BEFORE Cocoa was hurt. The fact that they openly admit that Cocoa has gotten stuck in trees several times, tells me they are *Letting her go outside unsupervised, or with little supervision- which means she can easily run away or get killed. ** They don't do much to prevent danger unless it's life threatening. Because getting stuck in a tree should NOT have happened after the first time.

He’d run into the side of the car or couch because he’d jump too soon or too late or he’d run into the corners of walls. Hey momma, did you see that wall jump right out to hit me? He learned though. Later he developed seizures though that may have been related. Lovely boy.

I went looking for him only to discover he had gotten my purse strap wrapped around his neck! He was semi conscious and I rushed him to the vet. He was fine, just exhausted, but it could have been so much worse. Think of them as human babies, they must always be watched, and anything they could get hurt with must be put out of harms way. The door came down and squished him right in the middle...I thought he was a goner and I got him to the vet right away. For coco, I heard of this same accident before from a neighbor, the cat was deceased when found hanging under the d.r. table caught in the legs (also venetian blind cords do this). Coco's family should fill in the open V shape of the table leg so that little coco cannot fall into that squeeze crevice again. The table maker never thought of how his leg design can hurt a pet. Oh, now that I have watched the end, I see they have stuffed some socks into the 'V' so that kitty cannot get her head caught again.

The design should have a decorative wedge, something that looks interesting, but stops the gap. It could even be colored with something light like white or silver and painted black in a V on the center of the wedge to create the illusion of that “continuity” of space.

I actually prefer keeping kittens in a hazard free space for a week or so when they get to a new place. Kittens are notoriously curious and love to get in trouble. I kept my kitten in a room and a crate with toys and a heating pad if needed for a week. Then about a month later I let him explore unsupervised downstairs. The worst story was a few years ago when a kitten got his head stuck in a gap between the stand and arch. Three kittens got stuck, miraculously none got killed.

Joan G- I don't think think it's the whole world's responsibility to keep your pets safe. As Humans who decided to have pets, it's Owners' responsibility to revise, create and have a safe home for the family. The same way that parents baby- proof their homes, so should pet owners. This BS of "the designer didn't think of pet safety" is only a way to shift blame off the owner to an innocent person. The responsibility ALWAYS falls to the owner to have a safe home environment for kids and pets!!! This father and his family didn't take the time to scan the house from top to bottom, and little Cocoa almost died because of THEIR NEGLIGENCE!!! Do Better, think better, Joan G!!!

You left out the sentence that makes your response wrong. Maybe a remedial reading course for you? Consumer protection is a valid idea. We are ALL responsible for public safety. In this case neither the family nor the table maker foresaw this accident. The family corrected the problem and now the funiture maker also should to redesign as part of good citizenship and moral responsibility. It takes a village. We are all in this together.

  • @ophilianecr

@@joang.8735 nope Joan, I dismissed that sentence ON PURPOSE because doing something about it AFTER Cocoa almost dies, doesn't and will never undo the mistake that they never pet-proofed their home. Just because they filled in the legs with socks, doesn't mean she can't get stuck there again with her body. REMOVING the table is the only preventative solution. Besides, the father admits openly that Cocoa has gotten stuck in trees several times. That clearly shows that they are NOT SUPERVISING HER, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are other hazards in the home. Get real Joan, us pet owners are the only ones responsible for the pet's safety. You can't rely on strangers to prevent things for you, in your own home. The designer doesn't pressure anybody to purchase a product, the consumer has to be responsible and chose whats right for their living situation. Use critical thinking before you embarrass yourself to the Internet.
