Brian Thompson I’ve heard that someone is making scanners using older style halogen lamps which gives it the proper fade. But they’re very expensive and suck down a lot of power, and also put off a bunch of heat. There may be some better LED versions now that can mimic the fade look.

My first car was a 82 Trans Am base model with 5.0 liter V8 with 4 barrel carb and with 13 inch wheels with the bowling ball covers. KITT was a 82 TA with crossfire fuel injection and 14 inch wheels. My car came with the lower fender fairings you mentioned. Lost a cover to a pothole and bought a new one from GM Parts in 85. It was different in that it had metal clips to hold on to the wheel better. I eventually upgraded to the 15 inch wheels and low profile tires that the 85 and later TAs had. Made a big improvement in ride quality. My car started life as metallic silver with lt grey interior. Had it repainted all black after a light accident. The silver had started going bad. Laughed when the Formulas came out in all one color and 16 inch similar wheels. Had two of them. A 89 and a 91 both all black with lt grey interior. Both with the turbo hood. With the nonfunctional plastic block off panel.

Massive fan of Knight Rider since I was four years old. This is a beautiful reproduction of the car, as to me it's not so much about the individual switches (some which were used once never to be seen again) but whether you can look at the car and get that rush of nostalgia and love that fans got when watching the show. This definitely is one of the replicas which ticks all the boxes for me. Outstanding job. Now, if only I had $75,000+ dollars...

Nice KITT! I spend roughly 2 years restoring my car, that's without worrying about installing a dasboard and most of the other interior gimmicks. Now I'm more in the process of improving the car rather than making it a full interior replica. Such a nice cruiser! Air conditioning service was a must for me, giving that it gets super hot under the glass roof in the summer.
This is gonna be a bit random but have you ever been asked to build any of the vans out of say Short Circuit? Those nova vans would be pretty sweet as a camper 😀
