That car is awesome! I watched a ton of your videos. So awesome! I understand what you are going through with paint shops. I own the only Camaro versions of Knight Rider Kitt and have been trying to find a trustworthy paint shop here in Los Angeles for a while now. It's not easy. I just graduated from film school and my thesis was a Knight Rider parody 26 minute pilot episode. I'm in the middle of writing the script for episode 2 while looking for a paint shop. Wish me luck!

I agree with most of what you say about paint shops.. my brother owns his own body shop and he does paint cars for insurance repairs and every now and then if a paying customer willing to pay for a paint he does do the job but he does have a disclaimer saying there is no time line or deadlines as he does takes his time in doing a custom paint job.. I love every thing you have done on custom cars and movies and television cars.. thank you for sharing

I want somebody to add self driving abilities to the car. Like an aftermarket solution you can add to an existing car. Then I want the KITT voice to map to real AI.. but not just KITT’s voice as the voice for SIRI, but an AI that has a personality like KITT, is sarcastic and funny. I want to be talked to, not just an AI that gives directions. I want it to also be aware and smart. I want to be able to stand in front of the mall, and hold up my smart watch, and say KITT come and get me. Then KITT says “I should make your fat ass walk, you’re lucky I’m in a good mood, I’ll be right there” then it comes and gets me. All the pieces/technology are there. Think the summon feature from Tesla. The smart watch which talks to your cell, has the ability to run custom apps for this. Somebody needs to make this a reality! That being said, this is an awesome implementation of KITT. Keep the dream alive!! Cool!

Paint looks great in video, it has to be better than what the last place did. The exhaust sounds great but for a Kitt car I wonder if it should have had a very quiet exhaust. If I remember correctly the movie car didn’t sound like the General Lee but more of a futuristic turbine sound so a quiet stock exhaust would be more fitting. Regardless the car looks great, job well done👍

I only use one body shop in my area and they've always done me right. When I pick up my vehicles, they're clean and inside...the owner inspects the car with me. You want those shops. Remember though, shops do not make money on custom work, because it takes a long time, and most people aren't willing to pay a shop to have multiple employees work just on their vehicle; they want their car stripped down to bare metal or glass, sprayed and cleared like it's in competition for the Riddler, but only want to pay $3000. Body shops make their money on bumper jobs, yank the bumper, spray the new bumper, bolt on the trim, slap the bumper back on and call it a day, collect their $1000-$2500

2 days sand paint and 3 coats of clear and oven baked before cutting and buffing, plus you can see yourself in it. You cant even trust a main dealer body repair center My car went to one it came back 2 colours the insurance stepped in, and they had it back, went to get it with the insurance agent who wouldn't let me take it as he said they sprayed the interior as well as the exterior and had tried to use the glue on side moldings a second time and they were warped.

I could be making an unfair judgement and its certainly true that finding a good business is hard. That all said, I would bet you go in with a low ball price in mind and a chip on your shoulder, so the more reputable businesses see that and quote themselves out of the job or tell you they are busy and give you deadlines they know won't suit. What you are left with are the businesses that are going to do a dodgy job, because that's the only reason they would take you on and have any capacity to do so. Personally I would go back and do the sums on the conversions and raise the base price, so you have the cash to get a good paint shop as a regular subcontractor for your cars and its financially worth their while to look after you. If that's not economically viable because its pushes the final cars retail out of your clients price range, then you are probably looking at a business model that at some point is going to fail anyway, because its not long term viable and only works if you low ball everything. In which case I would be actively looking for another business opportunity with higher margins to allow me to get out of what I was doing now.

Get a country Home with a shop in the back and paint to your heart's content! Anyway, the paint job is immaculate and you got it done in 3 days! Really? That's amazing and its a real good job with black paint (the world's most unforgiving color)! Nobody should ever complain about that. Ever. If you want it detailed, make it a part of the deal. I've had bad paint jobs too but then it was what I was willing to pay for so, yeah painting cars is not the best business, but I have found you get what you pay for. There's a lot of risk and everything comes at a price.

I used to like the way my 5.0 92 Camaro sounded, straight pipe just catalytic converter... it had basically a big U shape for the rear dual exhaust tailpipes, and then a T fitting in the middle of the U connect it with a exhaust pipe. Was a real ghetto set up I didn't do it, didn't even know what was under there, but it sounded real good. Then somebody rear end me, and it broke the exhaust, my exhaust guy rip that stupid T set up off "as he called it" and put a completely new y-pipe to split the exhaust, to the tail pipes, I didn't like it as much, it was a bit louder and throat sounded like a loud truck. Would recommend a T fitting straight pipe type exhaust, like I had recommended to anyone even though it's a bit weird of a setup.

Hey Bob. One more question. I see in this video that I believe you're restoring a trans am into a Knight Rider car. In the real car in the series did they have parking lights on the front of the car? I'm guessing that's because this is a street-legal Knight Rider? I just don't remember if it had them in the series or not. Keep up the good work.
