Watched this video and realized that a fork was stuck under the float. Picked it out and it ran perfectly. Thank you!

Technician quoted $300 to fix the dishwasher. Literally watched just this video and fixed it myself. Followed step by step and now I have a working dishwasher again. Thank you so much for posting this!

I had the same problem where the dishwasher was not filling up with water. I had added the water like you told me to and the cup was filled up. Before I started taking apart the dishwasher I unplugged it and plugged it back in just to see what happens. I guess that’s all my dishwasher needed was a reset because it started to work again.

I had just changed the solenoid and still didn't get water. Thanks for pointing out the float valve. Had a spoon under it. Now I have a spare valve. Thank you, again.

Oh, man, my Kitchenaid dishwasher has been acting up for a day or two. The unit was not filling with water. In this video, the second thing you checked was the float under the utensil rack. When I checked mine, I found a large hard plastic straw holding the float open. I removed it, reset the unit and chose the run cycle and voila! It filled with water and works! You just saved me $1000! God bless you!

Oh wow….a spoon was caught underneath the float. That’s why my dishwasher was not filling. Easy fix! Thank you for explaining.

You save my day! It ends up with a small plastic thing underneath my float. Once I removed it, it has water flow in and works as normal

Scott, first off thank you! Great and helpful video. I do have a question. I can hear and feel the fill valve working but at a point a minute or so in it just stops. Like there is a blockage. In doing the water test of filling the cup no water appeared. What would be the next order of operations? Clean the fill valve? Is there a line that runs from it that could have a block somewhere? If so, how to fix that one? Thanks again in advance for your help!

Thanks for this. The quick tip to check the float right at the beginning is what fixed my issue.

With mine, After talking to my youngest ( the Geek guy) I listened and thought I heard the click on valve, so I assumed it was trying.. As a "try", I shut water off and undid the water inlet feed then I used the bristle end of a battery terminal cleaner- gently scrubbing inside the valve.

Thanks for the easy video! I’m thrilled to not have to change this part YET! It was my float that was propped up by a broken wheel from the bottom drawer!

Thank you! Had already checked the supply valve, but a minute into the video you checked the float - hey, so THAT is what that is. Checked it, there was a fork under it holding it up. Gah! So fixed, fast and cheap. 14 year old KichenAid too.,
