Kish, the Ancient City of Kings (History of Ancient Mesopotamia / Sumer / Akkad)

Kish. Was it just a city, or an entire civilization different than that of the Sumerians? It was the place that ancient kings aimed to control, and from where Sargon of Akkad started his career of conquest. In this program, we'll take a look at one ancient Mesopotamia's greatest cities.

Very well done. We are separated by such an immense span of time from Kish but I'm pleased to exist in a time where individuals and institutions are curious about those ancient people, and that we pour energy into trying to grasp and understand them. And I wonder...will people separated from us by the same span of time be as curious about us as we were about our ancestors? Will they pour through our records, explore the ruins we leave behind, and wonder about how we lived, and thought? I hope so. :)

Hi Cy, I never leave comments, but you have quickly become my favorite KZreadr and I hope you know we appreciate this hard work. Many here won't understand the hours of labor and passion that goes into projects like these, but I certainly do. Channels like yours show that engaging content doesn't need flash or clickbait. Accurate, well-sourced history in the hands of a good storyteller will always be more compelling than any blockbuster, to me, anyway. Please keep up this excellent work, you improve every video!

Does this posible proto-Akadian civ be related to the Assyrian origin where we see the comment of the king list of "the kings who live in tends" or it has been totally proof to be related to the Amorrites? I don't know if was on your channel or somwhere else tp have read that probably some of the king lists where altered afterwards the Amorrite assimilation, tho this new narrative could give them some ground for an exclusive Akadian origin.

Good day Cy. I suspected that the time or period of the Great Revolt during the reign of King Naram-Sin, must had been somewhere around or after about 100 years since the worldwide Great Flood occurred. The presence of many kings and impostors were widespread during this time, when many races of different tribes, speaking different tongues intermingled with the descendants of Noah. At the site of the Tower of Babel it was the language confusion and chaos, with the mix-up of newcomers. Coeval with this event in Egypt was the timeline of the First Intermediate Period History of Egypt, after the destruction of the Old Kingdom by the Great Flood. The First Intermediate Period was the great chaos and language confusion in Egypt when, the Hebrew group of Mizraim mixed up with the returning Egyptians to claim their land and inheritance. Thousands upon thousands of different races, unlike the physique of Noah's group, returned and were scattered in every corners and nook of the planet beginning after about 100 years since the Great Flood. Plants and animal life were likewise distributed where we could see them in their respective regions and habitat afterwards. The more noticeable of some people and personages that descended to earth post-flood, were Melchizedek, the Olympian Gods, the Divine Royal Ancestors of the Japanese and really many, many more. Have a nice day and future soon. Thank you.

Amazing video. A shame that despite being one of the major players in sumerian times we have just a few epics related to Kish (just the story of Etana). Maybe it is related to the sumerian renaissence choice of focusing in writing about Uruk ,the city goddess Inanna and the exploits of the kings Enmerkar,Lugalbanda and Gilgamesh. In a way the same happened to Greek culture in late Hellenistic and Roman times. With time they become too foccused on Athens and its legacy.

2:36 flood or water level that surrounded earth is quite important as khash people who migrated from the city chose high elevated land for civilization. atleast that was one of the reasons they settled in Nepal. similarly according to Hindu and Buddhist text flood surrounded the earth and god took human to mountain of Nepal and Tibet ( highest elevation) and from there people moved as water level dried. according to Hindu text their 4 vedas where also distributed here. now this is somewhat ironic becuse as khash we know we came from city of kish. but then here we went from Nepal to kish to back to nepal. anyways it could just be a Grey area I mean it so old to provide evidence on where human moved from. some claim turkey mountain but again it could just be Victor's who changed the placement of history. that being said their Is a saying all bird fly back home. and it kind off ironic that 9% of bird species in earth come back to nepal (birds from Serbia to Australia which is suprising).

My ancestors where from the city of kish. Also known as khash people. who where known as khash which kept their identity and their root from the city. Iran has kashmar and kashan which can be named after these people, similarly khash people occupied Afghanistan including the capital Kabul at one point in time and have left a mark as kash provience in one of the region. then looking at Pakistan kashmir and kashmere provience. looking at china kashghar (Qing gang), infact from China Qing gang and Tibet region my ancestors moved to nepal. khash make 70% of Nepal population. even the language nepali arives from khash kura. which is basically language of the khash. similarly nepali pahdee people (khash) closest blood will be the people of Caspian region. when the initial khash migration started some also went to Kazakhstan and northern India additional to above country. further certain word of Caspian country like Armenia and nepali are very similar even if it is so far away. for example nepali word for father is baba same as armenia. yes in nepali is ho and po in armenia and then it is in nepali is esto and este in armenia. that being said kish was part of one of the oldest civilization that saw it people move to so many various country ( china, india, Pakistan, nepal, Afghanistan and more). Chinese specially called khash as yartsee tribe. and many of the khash population in southern Asia where humilated and harassed to lose their identity. specifically By new Indian groups such as rajput of india. that being said khash brought Iranian agriculture as well as tradition of using right and left hand for specific task such as eating. this influence is also known as babylonian tradition which is seen in all religious book from Torah, Bible and Quran where a person uses a specif hand for specific task such as wielding a sword to fight and eating food. one other importantly factor about khash people is that the ancient Roman knew about them and so did the Indian and Chinese. becuse Indus Valley civilization on it own has seen Iranian knowlge for example the irigation pipeline used in Agriculture in sewage movement in Indus Valley. last khash people also the people with advanced civilization for their period saw one of the first literature of any kind. the kish tablet is the proof that show their civilized charaxteristic.

Mostly solid, though some of them had large niches and rooms and were built on top of older temporaries and sanctuaries. A complete ziggurat though had the main sanctuary on the top. Thanks for watching and more on the way, stay tuned!

The bible has one of Ham's sons named Kush /Cush or Geesh as the father of Nimrod; could Kish be the same person? Also Is Gishur really (Kish of Ur) Why do you say King Gishur ruling for 1200 years was a dynasty? Did they not have a word for a 'Dynasty?' Also how did a Dynasty survive for 1200 years without being overthrown? No wars? No coups? No famines? This Gishur guy sure was powerful maybe because he had the (King ship?) The bible has people living into their 900s and now Kish has (a single king) rulling for 1200. Perhaps we should study how they lived so long? Also what is this [King ship] you skip over? Is there any other references to the (King ship) when did they loose it? Was it lost in battle or did it just leave? The Hindu have stories of giant (King ships) too; are they related?
