"Replaced" would be the wrong word. I see [saw] her as more of a new character. Long's character was a stuffy nerd and the antagonist to Danson's character. Alley's character was charismatic and competed directly with Danson's character. Hence, she literally gave the show new life and allowed for it to go on a bit longer. The show basically ended because the cast demanded too big a salary [this is what killed MOST long-running shows that had good rating still btw].

Kirstie Alley, 'Look Who's Talking' Actress, Dies at 71 A family statement published on social media says that the artist had recently discovered cancer. American actress Kirstie Alley left the scene this Monday (5), aged 71. The announcement was made by the family overnight in a statement on the artist's social media. The actress became known worldwide for her performances in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and for the three films in the Look Who's Talking franchise (1989); Look Who's Talking Too (1991); and Look Who's Talking Now (1993). Alley was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1951 and moved to Los Angeles in 1980, where he worked as an interior designer. She made her film debut in 1982. She recently received two Emmy Awards for her role as Rebecca Howe on the NBC comedy series “Cheers”. "To all of our friends across the world... We are sorry to report that our amazing, fierce and loving mother has left the scene following a battle with recently discovered cancer," the statement reads. “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought very hard, leaving us with the certainty of her endless joy in life and the adventures that lay ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more incredible mother and grandmother.” The actress is survived by a son, William True Stevenson, a daughter, Lillie Price Stevenson and a grandson.
