Kirchhoff's Voltage Law - KVL Circuits, Loop Rule & Ohm's Law - Series Circuits, Physics

This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into kirchoff's voltage law which states that the sum of all the voltages in a loop must add to zero. This video explains how to solve kcl circuits by using kirchoff's loop rule to calculate the current flowing in a series circuit with multiple batteries / voltage sources. This video also explains how to calculate the electric potential at every point using ohm's law. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.

    Nice explanation; the only thing is your sign convention is backwards. Engineers in the US use the passive sign convention. The voltage across a circuit element is positive only if current flows into the positive terminal of said element. The implications of the passive convention are that energy absorbed by an element is positive while energy supplied by an element is negative. (You essentially add up the voltage drops and subtract the voltage rises.)

  • @andrewmaksimovich2432

    @andrewmaksimovich2432

    Жыл бұрын

    I was wondering the same thing. In my circuits class, we also learned the passive sign convention so all the signs are flipped. While in my physics class we used the sign convention shown in the video. Very confusing as a student
