KIPS BAY DECORATORS SHOWHOUSE

High Style in Palm Beach
If you know Newport Living & Lifestyles then you know we are all about Life & Style. In the South, there’s nowhere these two come together better than Palm Beach. Long known for sometimes over-the-top luxe, the Palm Beaches are taking a turn toward the classic and helping out a fantastic charity in the process.
NLL&L was in town for the tour and an amazing day touring the KIPS BAY DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE. Inside the 1920’s Mediterranean Revival Estate, 24 designers transformed 24 rooms and living spaces into unique visions of their own take on contemporary style. The variety, execution and quality of each were not only exceptional but also groundbreaking; a “must-see” for architects, interior designers, set designers and anyone who relishes the joy and glamor of a livable “show home.” Many of the rooms have gone on to spark global interior design trends! How that for influence?
From Italian and French Modernism to campy cabana to a mobile of aluminum butterflies, the rich visual tapestry from room to room was a stunning reminder of how inspired creativity can transform a home into a visual wonderland.
The idea behind the Kips Bay Decorator Home came about in 1973 in Manhattan and has been going strong ever since. The Palm Beach Estate is the first of what the organization hopes will be many such “satellite” homes. All the proceeds from the event benefit the local branches of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls club; to fund after school and enrichment programs for city children.

For 47 years, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club has celebrated the best of interior design by transforming a luxury Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art, and technology. This all began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Manhattan to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. For more than four decades, the Show House has been a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts, renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world.

In 2017, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club expanded the brand to Palm Beach, with the fourth iteration of the Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Show House taking place in April 2021.

The tremendous success generated by the Palm Beach Show House had Kips Bay once again expand their market, launching the Inaugural and extremely successful Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Dallas, Texas in the fall of 2020.

Some beautiful architecture and design with so many creative ideas. Very artsy each room is a jewel of its own with some design too over the top busy. It would have been so much more enjoyable if the camera went more slowly in each room and stopped jerky and spinning and moving so fast from scene to scene. It made me as a viewer nauseous and having to refocus my eyes. Camera passed over some things and went too up close in other scenes. Get that camera person some lessons, please?

Horrible...too much pattern, color and stuff in every room. Gave me a headache.
