King Baldwin is so underrated by history. Saladin was given credit for retaking Jerusalem after nearly 100 years of Christian rule, but in order to do that he first had to fight Baldwin's army which handed it several stinging defeats that in one such battle nearly cost Saladin his life. The king, suffering from leprosy and facing imminent death within a few short years managed to not only lead his army through a brilliant campaign, but also managed to inflict major defeats upon the greatest threat to the Kingdom of Jerusalem several times. This movie certainly shows the respect both rulers had for each other, which was indeed the case.

People often go off the film but in reality, salahuddin defeated baldwin in battle twice
I watched this in my history class, one of the best history movies
