Everything about this was perfect. The narration, the handsome and fit and powerful male lions (they're the most majestic creatures on Earth), and the cute little cubs..

I live and grew close to a wild park in east africa. Ive encountered so many animals in close range. The few times ive been close to a lion, i had a chance hearing it roar once. Its something my ears will never forget. When close, it sounds like a metalic case full of tools, which is shaken violently. Its a spine chilling mighty sound.

To be fair to the King of the Jungle, male lions aren't just there to lay around, mate, and protect against the occasional attack. They will sometimes help in hunting, if it's a big, tough target that the females are having trouble taking down.

I've seen this it in animal planet years ago, it was quite a story. The marsh pride had quite an intense rivalry with the large hyena clan. The heyna that got close was the queen, it got killed by the male lions. The daughter of that queen was a cub, it later grew up alone and came back to take over the clan of it's mother. The two male lions were from another pride, they took over the marsh pride. I wonder what the conditions of the marsh pride and the hyena clans are today.

Hyenas are not related to dogs OR cats. They belong to an entirely separate branch, Hyaenidae, which is phylogenetically similar to cats. Physically, however, hyenas have evolved into a more canid-like form, so people often think of them as wild dogs.
