I was a bit worried I might feel let down after a lifetime of wonderful and inspirational Christmas messages from the Queen but I feel like he really lived up to her example with this speech. Wonderful message!

HMTQ’s example must surely have influenced King Charles for the good - just hope the monarchy lasts for Prince William and Princess Catherine, despite all attempts by the harkles to bring it down. Charles does need to make an example of H&M from a position of strength, not weakness.

People fell for the creepy narrative about Diana being some .... something better than human, and Charles being the monster who hurt or maybe even killed her. They forgot the important things - he is the son of Philip and Elizabeth, and watched them over seventy years. Secondly, he is not allowed to put out a narrative. Or truth. I think hopefully finally he is being seen as just Charles. Not the fictitious monster who hurt the perfect angel.

I'm not British and I watched out of curiosity because he has big shoes to fill. I'm very impressed with the speech and the message it sends. He did his mother proud.

As an American, why would you care how another country messages its people, especially a country we fought a war to get away from.

I am an American, but above that, I am a Christian. As such, I must commend King Charles III for the great job he did carrying on this Christmas tradition of Queen Elizabeth II. It touched and inspired me. I now look forward to watching his message each year, as much as I looked forward to hers.

As an English primary school teacher in France, I admire the UK, the royal family and the King Charles III. He did a speech full of wisdom and humanity. God save the King.

My grandfather passed away before Christmas and my family almost contemplated not celebrating Christmas that year so the beginning already got me in the heart. By the end, I was in tears.

The king's speech was absolutely brilliant his mother would be proud😁

Sorry, English is my second language, I was just moved.

He was always a real king, all be it in waiting. And what people seem to not fully appreciate is that as hair in waiting he understood a cornerstone of his duty was never to outshine his mother. What we see now was always there.

I watched his mother's Coronation on TV with my Mom when I was 7 years old in 1952. It's amazing how much time has gone by to now see him replace his Mom at Christmas for the first time in my life.

It is the hardest thing imaginable to follow the late Queen, our beloved monarch of 70 years, the longest reign in history. Charles stepped forward within hours with that historic pitch perfect speech one day into his reign. He has done it again with his first Christmas speech, both traditional and modern, inclusive without being woke, Christian, religious yet open to non believers, serious yet warm and welcoming. I notice how often he talks of love, and how often he thanks those who serve us. His heart is in the right place and he is a worthy successor to his mother. It was also lovely to hear the choir sing the national anthem and Oh Little Town of Bethlehem.

Always keep your traditions and celebrate your heritage. Resist the forces trying to undo everything at this moment in time. Stay steadfast and never apologize. Prayers out to all to include wishes for safety & wellbeing.

@@anyaw340 you firstly do not know what the commonwealth is if you think they are losing it when participation in it is upto the country itself and voluntary. If the British have to keep apologizing for 200 years ago so should the America settlers, the Romans, The Germans, The Arabs (Ottoman Empire), the South Americans and the African tribes who sold their own people into slavery. Dont cherry pick which parts of history your selectively want to condemn.

I live in America, where views on the royalty are mixed. But as someone who loves my own mother very much, when I look at His Majesty I see a man who is mourning the loss of a mother loved by him and millions if not billions around the world. So I wish for peace for the King this holiday and offer my heartfelt condolences.

As an American, I was just so shocked when Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II passed. I must say that Charles has handled himself beautifully. He is morning his mother, dealing with his younger son and his wife while starting his new role, becoming the King of England. Many say that he has prepared for this his whole life. I’m sure he is…he just has to be aware of a few bombs thrown his way from time to time.

As someone who had a rough Christmas this year....I really needed to hear this. Thank you King Charles for reminding me of the true meaning of Christmas and how light will always overcome darkness. This was a beautiful speech and words cannot express how touched I am. Thank you for carrying on the tradition your mother upheld for all those years. I loved hearing her speeches and I miss her terribly. But I shall continue to look forward to hearing yours year after year. God Save our Gracious King. You & KCIII brought tears to my eyes today. I hope 2023 is better for you, the royal family and everyone out there who is struggling. No-one is alone, at times it is easy to forget that. Still, when you reach out, there will always be someone willing to offer kindness & support. Whatever else we do as people, I hope that will always be the case. Merry Christmas x

King Charles, greetings from the United States. Your speech brought tears to my eyes as I also mourn the passing of my brother who was only 23 when he passed of cancer. I can understand how your miss your Mother, Her Majesty, the Queen as this is your first Christmas without her. Thank you not only for serving your country well and your subjects but also for your support over the years of the Eastern Orthodox Community, the faith of your Grandmother, Princess Alice and your father, his Royal Highness Prince Philip prior to his marriage to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. God save the King!!!

As an Atheist, I am very shocked and pleasantly surprised to be included in a message of Merry Christmas. You just don't see anyone in a position of power including everyone like that. Feels strange to be, even in such a small way, recognized by the head of the church of England. Bravo, Charles. Keep up the inclusion and diversity, and I'll keep being proud to have you as our King. What I appreciate about King Charles' message is that he just offered his words to those without faith. I have been down that road. I was once in study to become a pastor for the Baptist church, so I know all about HIM and his sources. I found them very lacking. But I don't want to get into that here, I spoke my mind about Charles' message because it was very VERY generous of him, considering his position, to offer out a message to the faithless, like myself.

I can recall our late Queen also including those of no particular faith in her Christmas messages.

As a non British citizen, I have for many years watched Queen Elizabeth, your late mother's address to her people , and may I say Merry Christmas to you and the Queen consort and all of your family, you have continued a beautiful tradition and delivered your speech in such a touching and meaningful way. I'm quite sure her Majesty Queen Elizabeth would be so proud of you. May your and your wife enjoy many years of good health and happiness.

King Charles’ First Christmas Speech was beautifully written and presented. To me, having it broadcast where the King’s parents lay was very touching and was an excellent mark of respect. To include his own journey to Bethlehem and the way he spoke about our lord was respectful towards believers and non believers alike and a wonderful way to remind us all of the importance of “ever lasting light”. A very well rounded and inclusive speech indeed!

Wow, I like this guy, and I'm not even British. "The power of light overcoming darkness is celebrated across the boundaries of faith and belief. So, whatever faith you have, or whether you have none, it is in this life-giving light and with the true humility that lies in our service to others that I believe we can find hope for the future. " Excellent quote.

The King first Christmas speech feels natural, warm and inclusive. Was very well presented. Congratulations to the King and hard working family.
