I became a Canadian citizen almost 20 years ago. I swore allegiance to the Queen as the head of state of a constitutional monarchy. If Canada becomes a republic, I will still regard the ruling monarch as my head-of-state and will not pledge allegiance to whatever the leader refers to themselves as. It's just not happening.

No one can stay indifferent to the death of her whose face and voice remained the most recognizable person on earth. Outside UK, and The Commonwealth, HM was respected, even loved, beyond understanding. May she rest in peace. Prince CHARLES is no stranger to the world. We all feel a great relief to finally see him proclaimed King CHARLES III. Let us all wish him well.

He`ll be even more pissed off next year if the royal experts here in the UK are right. The King and Queen will likely embark on an extensive tour of the Commonwealth. Queen Elizabeth regarded Canada as her second home so I would imagine His Majesty will be especially keen to press the flesh there.

The passing of Queen Elizabeth II marks the end of a long dynasty. As Canadians, we need to rethink how the monarchy has actually benefited average taxpayers and families since we officially become a country in 1867. The inheritance of a privileged royal title based solely on blood lines needs to be abolished in my opinion. These instigators of colonization over the centuries have resulted in countless lives and cultures being exploited for their own private benefit in numerous countries globally. I can’t recall a single example where the Queen or now King Charles III gave a homeless person a cup of tea or hot soup, blanket or cloths. The Crown (AKA The Firm) does not pay any taxes. We have literally wasted billions of taxpayers dollars keeping this antiquated and outdated establishment alive in Canada. For example, we literally spend millions of taxpayer dollars in Canada to support the Governor General in Ottawa and 10 lieutenant generals in office each year with their extravagant mansions, private chefs, gardeners, chauffer’s, security personal and staff to name but a few. These funds can be better spent on the poor and homeless, health care and education. Time for change people!!!

For those who may not understand the cultural significance of an Acadian Gov General, the British empire offered 10k per scalp of an acadian or indigenous person as they fought for control of New France. They stole women and children, raped, enslaved, and put us into schools to beat our culture and chiac french out us. At the same time our own King of France had ordered us exiled and slaughtered for being Huguenot christians. Queen Elizabeth II issued an official but underwhelming apology for this horrific treatment years ago. Much like our current indigenous gov general she had also specifically appointed an acadian as a gesture of healing and good will. I'm both Acadian and a British subject born in Canada and my 13th grandparents ( Melançon/Melanson) founded the first colony in New France in Nova Scotia which is a now a national park.

Please learn English grammar first. For example, it should be "did she heal", rather than "did she healed", or "can half of the Earth's women live calmly", rather than "do half of the earth woman can live calm".

There is actually a reason: "By the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada, and his other Realms and Territories King, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of he Faith" was at the time the official style of the King of Canada under Canadian federal law. Since the coronation, that style has been officially change to "By the Grace of God, King of Canada and his other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth", which is analogous to the style used in Aiustralia and other realms, and actually omits any explicit reference to the United Kingdom.

That was the official style of the King in Canada at the time, which is set out by federal law.. Later the Parliament of Canada changed the law and the King is now referred in official documents only as "Charles the Third by the Grace of God, King of Canada and His other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth". The former reference to the United Kingdom has been now deleted.

Yeah, that crossed my mind as well. Charles the first was beheaded by Oliver Cromwell and Charles the second spent time on the run on the Continent until Cromwell kicked the bucket and he could come back as king. Charles the second was a party king with numerous mistresses. He had 12 illegitimate children which he all acknowledged. They all got a slew of Nobel titles. A large chunk of the British nobility can trace their lineage back to Charles II, including Diana’s family.

Please note: the reigning monarch of the UK has no power over any affairs in canada. However, the Canadian head of state still stands, as we are a constitutional monarchy. The role just happens to be filled by the same person. King of Canada is a separate title to King of England.
